The Frozen ******* Wasteland!
Well, wanted to let all you reprobates know that I truly enjoyed the day at the track with Andiamo last Sunday. Up and until what amounted to be the last session for me (and the second last of the day for my group, Fast Street 1). To much tire pressure, cold day with coolish tires, and a handful of throttle exiting turn one saw me sliding on my arse. Twisted gear selector precluded finishing the day like I wanted to. Rash to the ENTIRE left side, and I may want to replace the L passenger hanger. Looking at paint as well. I need a wind cheater for the left side radiator as well. Going to go to Pazzo's for levers and maybe Gilles or Satos for rear sets later this winter. What is the opinion on the Woodcraft rear sets?? Anyone got parts that they want to , umm, part with? Did I mention the little ding in the rear swing arm from the pipe?? THAT really pissed me off. Sourced a shifter arm to borrow for next Saturday. Need to get the bum of my leathers sewn up. Looking forward to another day of fun, thist time the weather is supposed to be better than +14C, and I'll have the tires at 30 psi instead of 40... Any tips, hints, or revelations would be appreciated and yes, I am walking a little funny due to upper thigh, bummage, and big toe owies to the L side.

Just spent a half hr trying to upload a pic, but ****** if I can figger it out.

Blimey, what a bummer. We can dwell on the negs here but I'm gonna be positive. You could now have your ideal track bike, and get yourself the Factory you've thinking about. :thumbup[money permiting of course].
This is weird because I've just booked on a track day [13 Oct Oulton] and I'm crapping it now in case I throw Him down the track. It's never bothered me on any of the other bikes, but Ollie's different.

Been there done that... more times than i can count. I think on track in UK i've crashed 20+ times. The worst was a segmented femur, broken hand and wrist in 10+ places, some ribs and a few other bits :)

Yours sounds like a not too bad crash :) Just the kind i like.

I have a pair of rearsets up for grabs mate if any use, you can have them for what they cost me from Windy.

You had your rubber at 40psi ?
Damn that's the first step mate, low 30's for them.

Next step is... RELAX... it's not a race... it doesn't matter if you overtake someone on this lap, or the next...etc etc.

I was pretty gutted too. The lo-side was just me trying to get a tad faster out of turn one. Not even racing... and the thing that pissed me off the most was that the previous lap had been just a coaster lap having fun in the corners and not worrying to much about lines... What kind of rear sets are we talking here weeksy?

Oh, and thanks for the tip on the IMG thangie... I actually look kinda like I know what I'm doing there. Not bad as that is my FIRST set of sliders that I have ever broken in.

Very nineties, doncha think, nobby dearest? And not bad for a $100. They did the job, but I have to get the *** sewn up now. I've got a shot at some green leathers for two bills. I think that I may have to grab them. Style is everything.

$100 ? How many cows are in that suit ? Your a big lad, fookin bargain and they saved ya. Put the leather wound pics on. I aint put my leathers on all year cause I've been riding in some dandy kevlar keks ,got me own t day soon so I'd better get on the old cabbage soup.

Looking at that pic makes me realize how small the bike is. Or maybe how big I am. I've seen other pics of people riding a Tuono and it didn't look like they were riding a too fiddy. Seen the little fuckers stretched out over the tank to reach the bars and it looks like I'm just leaning back on a pleasure cruise. Weeksy, feel free to give some tips on style and form. I can use all the help I can get. Going out again Saturday to prove something!!! Just dropped off the leathers to get the bum sewed up. Still waiting to hear type and price on the rear sets weeksy!!

Sorry to hear about your off mate but a little gentle nudge reminder of your mortality aint a bad thing every now and then.......

Tips:

Tyre pressure - 33 Front 31 Rear an absolute must
Tyre warmers - GP Pro's set to 80C "Essential track kit"

Style - Get off the bike more in the bends (re your head over the tank).

Try to get your head inline with right or left hand "kiss the mirror" as they say. This will keep the bike more upright using the meat of the tread. If you stay over the tank and drop the bike way down low, you are in danger of running off the side of the tyre (resulting in a lowside).

Bad crack shvl mate. I'm pleased you are okay.
Troy's tips are good un's, you do need to move around on the bike before going into the corner. Do you have the ball of your foot on the peg? That also helps. You want to be as far off the bike as you can, but that takes practice and a little at a time does it. You want to be aiming for one of you "slender" bum cheeks off the seat. Say going into a left hander your head should be low & as far out as is comfortable. your left elbow should also be low, aiming for the ground, so to speak, and your right leg & right elbow up against the tank. If you can do "dry" runs with the bike propped up, practice moving from side to side on the bike with on the balls of your feet on the pegs until it feels comfortable.
Watch a couple of bike races and see how far they get off the bike.
Tell me to **** off if you know all this tho':thumbup

Working on getting over the tank and "kissing the mirror". I found that weighting the inside peg helps and I am almost just toes on the peg as with my big dogs, if I have the ball fo the foot on, then I am hitting my boot in the corners. I think Troy may have it with the lowside cause. As mentined, tires were cold and I wasn't getting off the bike as much as I was in previous laps, ergo, riding the edge of the tire. The good news is that I get to go back on Saturday to practice a little.
Weeksy, I am going to cut your nards off. I was counting on those rearsets. Feck. Well, if the deal falls through, let me know.

*addendum*
**** **** **** fuckity **** ****. I just looked at the Arrow rearsets and they are the dawgs bollocks. Let me know if they return to up for grabs status.

Oh, and I am NOT so ******* good on the track that I can't use helpful tips and hints. Keep 'em coming gents. I need all I can get! Thanks troy and grin!
