Track pressures?

Does anyone have any preferences or suggestions for track day tyre pressures? I'm running standard tyre sizes, 190/50 and 120/70. Any input would be great as this will be my first ever track day, thanks. :thumbup

Depends on a few things matey, How hot the weather is ,how hard your pushing and what tires your using and if your using tire warmers,,,if its a full day sesh just go out with the road pressures and once warm check the pressures you should notice theve went up just drop a couple of psi each end aand see how it feels but don't get too caught up in the pressures m8 just go out and enjoy,if your quite a quick rider maybe drop them to 30 cold and see where you go from there... i usually run 30 psi front and back hot on metzeler racetecs so again on road tires youll want a bit more in them , Enjoy

What tyres fella?

I've just had new pair of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III fitted, not allowed warmers on this day as it's road bikes only, so i'll be starting each of the seven 20 min sessions with cold tyres.

you need to have a look at the tyre to see if you need more or less pressure. lots of vids on youtube. also there was a famous article about it. cant find it anymore sorry

Be interesting to hear how the corsa IIIs do as the rear on my bike started to come apart on the right side quite badly. I had a few of the tire experts look at it and they speculated it was either a really dodgy tire or suspension problem, but I'd just had that setup by 100% suspension. The pressures I ran on that day were 30/30, the track was brands hatch, and the weather was scorchio, about 28/29C.

There's your problem....

LOL... you know better?... I'm all ears:eatcorn . Shame coz these guys seemed good and a nice guy too.

Don't want to eat another rear tire in one day though, especially as the next trackday is in a few weeks :devious

Colin is a nice guy. I've never used his services but the guy who advises on mine reckons 100% simply go by the manual rather than tailor suspension to what the bike is actually doing. Now that may work for the majority of people, but Aprilias (esp with Ohlins) tend to be a bit more sensitive to adjustment than the mass produced Jap bikes.
Sounds like you were having cold tear issues. Do you run warmers? I'd say 30 rear would have been a bit too high given the track temperature, but 100% should have advised on that.
Mick Grant does a lot of FE days now, he worked wonders on a mates S1000RR and crucially monitored it throughout the day.

Or you could do what I did, experiment with radical settings despite my "adviser" warning against it, whilst running a brand of tyres I'd never ridden on before, and promptly dumping it on the second session :roll

D'oh!

I think I'll steer well clear of ruining the suspension myself as I really have no clue what I'm doing. I know that there's some springy bits and loads of twisty thingies, but what they do :dunno is beond me.
