I have a novice track night at knockhill tomorrow. I've managed to get about 250 miles on the bike since getting her last week. It's a 2001 r running 208's not great I know. Is there anything I should be doing prior to taking her on the track. Tyres etc.

It would be best if you lower the presure a bit because tyres get warmer on the track than on the street. I dont know what kind of "unit system"(dont know the apropriate word :D) do you use, we have BAR for presure and recomended for the street is 2.3bar front and 2.5bar for back. For the track is 2.1bar front and 1.9bar back.

You could also remove the blinkers and mirrors, depents if you will ride to the track or have the bike on a trailer.

And on the track duct tape the lights, so if you crash(hope not :)) there isnt glass all over the track.

Make sure you chain is lubed, and check all the bolts and that the brakes are working :D

Have fun and good luck making fast times :)

hi tuber,

tape up lights & indicators (masking tape will do nicely) , remove mirrors or tape them up & tape up your speedo, but only your speedo.

ask the tyre guy at the track , he will ba able to advise best settings for the day and track conditions
