Hi Folks,

Well been a while but im toying with getting a T again as i have missed it. Anyway the one im looking at an 06 plate has around 20K on the clock so question is what to look out for? Do they have any big services up to this mileage valves or the likes?? Any pointers much appretiated, my last bike only had like 8K on it when i sold it.

Cheers
Mark

I am no expert, as a matter of fact, I have only had my 2006 T for a few weeks; I believe there is a valve check at 12,000- word is they hardly ever need adjustment tho'.

Have a look in for sale section MPG , am down the road in perth and only want £4600 for mine.

service intervals every 6K which involves valve checks but no big deal as they are easily accesible from under the tank & air box.

Been reading about the stator issues that the T can suffer from is there a mileage that these are likely to go at or is it just a case of depending on your luck?? I was kinda hoping that if its up around 20K then the stator would have gone by then especially since its 6 years old also.

The stator issues only effect the 2006-early 2008 models.Aprilia fitted a higher output alternator,(700w,iirc) to the early Gen2 bikes. They went back to the 300w unit mid 2008.Pot luck if the stator burns out,or not. Some seem to last forever, while others have failed after a short while.Quite and easy replacement job,....just bloody annoying,.....and bloody expensive!

Or you could have your knackerd one rewound. About £100 iirc
Also, if you have it rewound you can specify longer tails, with thicker and fewer wires in the windings.
