Rails fitted in under 10 mins, removed when not touring. only tacks 10 secs every morning when putting the luggage on, panniers take a lot longer than that. bike is also perfectly balanced, just like having a pillion on. quality set up.

take out the bolts holding the rear bodywork on ...replace with longer allen head bolts with nuts/washers to hold bodywork tight...pack rucksack and cargo net it on. Just did Germany and back without any probs with this mod.....cheap as a few bolts..

With all the wife's ancillary crap that she insisted on taking with her, the panniers were rock solid.

No weaving that I noticed, it made the bike feel noticeably "heavier" at low/crawling speed around towns but on the open road it didn't feel that much different from a bike with no luggage on it. Also, when parked up, you had to be careful with any slopes on the road as the extra weight makes it look and feel like its going to tip off the sidestand. I ended up using a sidestand puck everywhere, just for a little peace of mind.

I did however, take the advice of some of the Yank fellas over at AF1 who recommended increasing the tyre pressures by a few psi, so maybe that helped a bit.

Only problem I had with "wind" regarding the panniers, was that the waterproof rain covers that came with the Oxford sports stuff slip on nicely and "seem" to be secure at a standstill, but I ended up loosing them both on the way home. One blew off about Fort William and the other parted company at Dunblane as I was sailing down the motorway. So if you are going to use them, make sure you also use bungees over the waterproof covers as well as bungees to secure the panniers tight in to the side of the bike.

I am a bit stuck now for touring with panniers, since I've fitted the twin Renegade exhaust setup, but I can recall at the time, the only issue I had with fitting the soft sports panniers was with them hiding the rear indicators a little bit, that needed a bit of fiddling around with.

Other than that, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Oxford stuff.

The Humpback tankbags are a seriously quality and great bit of kit. It's amazing what you can actually fit inside them once they are expanded.

I use a Kriega R25 rucksack and a Shad SH37 Topbox, the adaptor of which is mounted to a spare pillion seat and simply clicks into place. I wouldn't go back to using anything else now, it's just so easy to use, waterproof, simply click on and off and holds as much as any panniers. My old Oxford Humpback Panniers were just dire on the Mille, not fitting at all well and got totally soaking wet even with the storm covers on.

Touring last year guys :biggrin .............. Like Hero says takes coupla mins to fit rack...........then in seconds just attach and ur ready to go! :thumbup Looks well loaded, as we done half and half camping/b&b's :thumbup









and the bike is well balanced.............. even got some knee sliding action without a problem :devious:biggrin

Get the kriega stuff it's excellent, I use it everyday, I've got the US20 and US10, you hardly notice they are there and can get tons of stuff in them.
Also got the kriega bum bag, that's great to

I've got the ventura rack, but an Hein Gericke bag which was cheaper but excellent quality plus enormous, bike felt secure and stable when fully loaded, took my lad to stay at his Grandparents with enough stuff to fill the boot of my car..Did have a pic on here but have managed to delete it.

After the nightmare with my Oxford Humpback Panniers, now sold, I was going to try the Kriega us-20's and us-10 combinations as mention by CK, but after reading a few other RSV riders reviews on using the Shad SH37 ( same 37 litre topbox as supplied by KTM ), i thought i'd give it a try. It won't be to everyone's taste but for me it did the job of carying my gear brilliantly. On the trip to Barcelona GP this year, everything stayed dry and uncreased and there's no messing about with strapping luggage to your bike and the pitfalls of marking the paintwork. It simply unclips and away you go :biggrin

I've used this system the last two tours I've done...
as said, bloody brill, no messing with straps no bodywork dmamage it doesn't affect the ride at all, tested up to 150mph plus and no worries...:biggrin
as it happens....
I have the complete system for sale...
spare pillion seat and Givi Monkey Top box all ready to go, takes about 20 secs to fit and the same to remove, waterproof and loads of room, I comfortably manage a week away with zero trouble, with planning I could manage two !

theres a few of us use the idea, from ZX6's to RSVR to Tuono's to BMW's....
works really well, we've used for a few years now...:thumbup
