Has anyone had any experience of your bike just cutting out for no obvious reason? It's a 2002 Mille, and i was just riding along normally (ish) and suddenly it just cut out and died, al electrics were still on and the dash still lit up but it just had a complete loss of power as if i'd hit the kill switch (i hadn't) so i stopped at the side of the road, tried the kill switch, nothing, so I turned the ignition off then back on and she fired striaght up? WTF??? and for the rest of today has been as good as gold, starting first prod, no hesitation, accelerating fine, everything seems normal, any ideas folks? :confused

Check for loose battery connections m8, i had this happen on my gen2 when i was cranked over going round a bend at 80 when the electrics cut back in the back end come round, to say i shat myself is an understatement after that the problem got worse so that it would cut out like yours, the weird bit was the dash was still lit up ,bloody weird italian electrics lol......:thumbup

yeah, my dash was still on too, very odd!

Check your side stand switch. They have been known to fail and cause intermittent problem. It will give same symptom as putting stand down with bike in gear, eg:act just like a kill switch

Drink taken so maybe best to ignore my tuppence ....

Side stand switch is defo worth looking at , mine played funny buggers before it gave in completely. think they`re about £50 . As a last resort to get you home if you think it`s your switch take it off the stand and twist it until you`ve melled all the wires together ..start the bike and pootle off home ! If it still don`t start you`ve just wrecked your switch and you`re none the wiser ?

Good luck mate , failing that i`ld push and pull every lecky connection you can lay your hands on the tart . :dunno

Thanks to all, I found the culprit, the tilt sensor had fallen off it's mount, so the bike thought it was on it's side. I did the side stand switch anyway too.

mine does this everynow and again, only at slow speeds and usually after a throttle blip ... like it just stalls itself, i put it down to me fluffing the blip but it sounds like i should give the electrics a going over !!

Would'nt worry mate mine will do it to, also only after bliping the throttle, but only if i don't give it a proper blip, ie not a big enough one,if that makes sence, since fitting a quick action throttle there's no such thing as a small blip anymore, lol.

Mine does it from time to time too and has done since brand new, usually when I'm turning at slow speed, really quite dangerous when crossing roads or at roundabouts.

I just pull the clutch in and restart whilst rolling.

I'm told lots of big V twins do it, Ducati's, KTM's etc.

Ooo quick action throttle ... That not really jerky? I find the standard one really lumpy on the pick up from shut off! Maybe you have better hand control than me :(

Hand control, like it , lol, No not jerky at all i would say it was smother than befor, find it alot easier to blip and use the front brake at the same time aproaching a corner, also. Takes no time to get used to it either a well worth mod in my opinion.
