I've just discovered what happens when you put too much oil in after a change.
It stinks of burnt oil and that little filter thing is soaked in oil.

Any idea what to clean it with?
Should I check anywhere else?

Cheers

Hi There,

The manual recommended are:

- 3.7 liters - Engine oil per oil change
- 3.9 liters - Engine oil per oil change with Oil Filter change

Over flow of EO (Engine Oil) will lead to less responsive engine. I would suggest you get a clean basin, drain all the oil inside and remeasure it and put it back in.

As for the oil filter, you can clean it with pressured air and leave it to dry for 1 hour before re-installing.

Do note the burnt oil smell will still be around for the next couple of days.

Thank you that's very helpful. I drained out about 1/2 litre and cleaned out the airbox well. It seems to be running fine and although the oil level is at the top of the sight tube when hot there's no more oil residue or smell.

Hi Bro,

Good to hear that, do ensure that you have sufficient EO inside, I have heard cases where over used or too little EO causes "Jammed" engine and/or broken crankshaft.
