Tom Tom Rider Mount

I thought the following information may be useful.

I bought a Tom Tom rider Mk2 earlier this year & apart from a few local trips used it for the first time when I went to Assen in June. When I took the device out of my rucksack in Holland the mount had fallen apart. it was evident that some locking pins were missing & being spring loaded it had sprung apart. Though not being aware of any undue knock or jolt I assumed it was probably due to being knocked whilst putting my rucksack on or off. I returned the device to the supplier SAT NAV easy who organised a no quibble replacement.

I used the device for the first time again today & noticed when removing the sat nav from the mount to charge it that the locking pins were once more missing. I can only assume that the V twin vibration has worked the pins loose which have then fallen away.

Thought this may be handy information I would reccomend that anybody who owns or buys one of these devices that they secure the pins in place with some loctite or super glue.

However if furter reccomendation was required I think I'd go for a Car sat nav & one of these headstock bags. As the Bike device is bluetooth it requires a specific car mount that costs about £40.00 & I've also returned one of those that broke. ALternatively just follow somebody else or don't go too far from home.

Not sure if they do it for TomTom Rider ... but RAM mounts from America are excellent (save for an issue with paint on the stub shaft)

Plenty on e-bay

Must admit I can be a handless bugger but see folding oot the map at 70mph it beats me everytime.:dunno

Got the RAM mount. It's the Tom Tom interface between the Ram & the actual Tom Tom

n, slow doon a bit yer goin to fast mucker, give it a go at 40mph. I think yer find it dosnae tare apart jist so badly.

Aldo min, its no often I get telt to slow doon, its normally speed up ye slow bugger

That looks a much more robust solution. Tom Tom are sendin a new mount out. Perhaps I'll sell it on Flea Bay & replace with one of these. Can you see the clocks ok?? Especially the fuel light. It's obscured by my fitting so can be a little scary if you havent got your eye on the tacho

I didn't have any problem seeing the clocks at all, is the faulty mount you are talking about the one that the sat nav slides/clips on to and has the power connections on it? if it is, then you still need that mount plate as this fits to the SW-Motech mount plate using four screws, if the pins keep vibrating out then put a blob of super glue on the end of the pins on the new TomTom mount plate making shure they are affixed to the plastic.

Just fabricated some pins (cut up a jumbo paper clip with pliers) & secured them into position with some araldite, so will sell Ram Mount & get one of those dudes you suggest. It seems from the Tom Tom forum that the problem is common & not just due to V twin vibration. The mount does vibrate a hell of a lot though & it is not always easy to focus on so the alternative suggestion youn have made seems like a good one. Thanks.

just turned my Ram mount around 180 view is much better even though it does look ******* stupid stuck out like a turd on a wedding cake.

I had one of these fitted, the right up says it's for the Aprilia Shiver, Dorsoduro & Mana, but it fits the Tuono just fine.

Nonshock Cockpit GPS-Mount > SW-Motec website

SW Motech Aprilia Cockpit GPS Mount > UK distributors (motohaus)

Bought one on your advice & fitted it today. Much better alternative to the Ram mount, Doesn't look like scaffolding attached to the handlebars, vibration is well dampened & it doesn't obscure view of the clocks.

So well chuffed with this recomendation thanks for the advice.
