Hello everybody, it's time for new rubber. Has anyone tried Bridgestone BT-016 on the T. Need some reviews from those who know.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Rob, I use 016`s on my Mille and my mate uses em on his Tuono and we both rate them highly with a quick warm up time, sticky and they are good for about 3000 miles.
I know Michelin 2ct are also highly rated. Hope this helps

I've not tried those, but have been extremely impressed with the Avon Storms.

I have heard good things about the Avons too but i think mainly as a winter tyre :confused

Wow 3000 miles. Did the edge's wear out before the center? I'm hopeing to find tires that grip and last a bit longer. Or am i dreaming.

Thanks again,
Rob L

Wear Vs sticky. The age old conundrum. There are many good tyres on the market today, and many Tuono riders report (through the forums) success with many brands like Avon, Metzler, Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone and Dunlop. It seems everyone has an opinion, and not many of them bag a specific tyre or manufacturer.

The OEM Metzler Rennesport rear has lasted around 3200km on my T, and is nearly due for replacement. It stuck like the proverbial to a blanket. I will be fitting another sticky in its place - maybe a BT016, as I have heard good things about them.

To me, mileage is a secondary consideration in selecting tyres. Not that I've got money to burn, but I bought my T to ride it as it should be ridden, and to do that, I like the assurance sticky tyres give.

016 have a dual compound, hard centre (021) sticky (014) edges, I rate them but its personal opinion.

They have worn quite evenly and still hold the road well and i dont hang about. :thumbup
Have heard even bigger mileage from Michelin 2CT but never tried them myself

Thanks for the input. The stock Pirelli Dragon's were great even being four years old. Just got the bike last fall with 1400 miles on the clock. 960 miles in the Deals Gap area used them up. Also thinking of Pirelli Rosso, Michelin Pilot Power. I'm going to try the 016's. Dual compound front, tri compound rear sounds good.

thanks again folks,
Rob L

Personally I like Pirelli Diablos. I ride the Dragon several times a year and all I care about is STICKY. I have not found a stickier tire yet. I just sold my GXSR1000 and had Dunlop Qualifiers but never really got to trust them entirely.

A million varying opinions on tyres, & just like bikes..
Have gone through 3 sets of Pilot Powers & loved them... Today fitted a pair of Diablo Corsa 3's only done 100klms but & hell they hang on and warm up quick..
However its only early days & after 100ks the outer edges were showing some signs of spirited riding after only 10 mins on the range
I know the outer edges are soft but hey??? the pilots peeled away also but got 5000ks out of the rear

Put Corsa 3's on the Monster and they work well. Changed rear at 6000 miles front still good but its a much lighter motorcycle with a few less pony's. The center goes away first due to the lack of twisties here.

T-Rider, you are truley blessed to live near the gap. I wish i could retire and move to N.C.

Nice to know am not talking s**t :smilie:smilie

You read that BOB, STL useful :doug

Well guy's have done a few hundred on the Corsa 3's and love them, dont know that they feel better than Pilot Powers but feel great..
Hey Chunky we did 2 runs on the Gillies Range out of Cairns today.. thats 20 kms no straights hardly get into 3rd, infact thats when you get tired and need a rest and a cruise..

My mum taught me that if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing.

So I'm saying.................

mmmmmmmmm a friend on his Falco came up from Twnvle this weekend cant believe the roads...
Sorry would send some down there if i could, how about some pics will that do..... i think not but you still have that holiday to plan...
Keep your chin up...... love Towie

Thanks Towie (sniff, sob) you're a real mate. I'll be trying to get up your way early next year.

My rear wheel is in the shop having a puncture repaired ATM.

I will probably replace the OEM Metzler with another Metzler, or a Michelin 2CT when the time comes.

Dave

Happy to help out.....

I don't live near it at all. it is an870 mile trek for me. But I happily do it at least twice a year. I was blessed to spend almost a month fdown there this year. I live in NYC.
