hi guys the time has come i think ,to bin my datatool evo vito shito cunto crapo pain in the arse alarm for good
its been in safe mode for months now with a beep every 15 seconds since since november , can still arm it but when set it just screems like a **** all the ******* time so thought better off with a 15 second beep rather than going off all the time till i could be arsed looking at it lol ,so time to act as im of to the north west in may and need new battery 2 new tyres and i need to get my finger ooot !! any advice is good advice cheers guys.

Q=1 has any of you guys removed your alarm if so any tips for removal .

Q=2 if i remove the alarm battery only could it at any time arm and bike wont start and getting stuck far from home .

Q=3 there is no question 3 sorry lol .

hi biff i do like your vivid descriptions :biggrin

ive removed many alarms as i fooking hate them and never had a prob with insurance.

most alarms are piggy back and are simply fitted to the bikes loom (some are made for the bike and plug in)

best way is start at the alarm and just follow the wires to where they meet the loom, then remove the alarm wire and re tape the soldered joint on the loom.

there should be 2 indy wires , earth , power and a switched power.
then you will have at least 2 wires for the imob and those will need cutting with enough tail so you can re-join them so the loom wire is fixed (re-joined)if that makes sense.

the re-join immobilizer wire is usually fuel pump earth etc (alarm just makes the connection when switched on)

should be easy to spot as 2 wires from the alarm will join 1 cut wire from the pump or pump relay so you can check via wire colour and re-join it.

some bikes have a relay to add or replace as factory fit and have a plug in so hope that's not the case with the rsv? griff (fusebox) may know if these alarms are fitted from new and use a factory plug in?.

mine had an alarm but it was removed when i got the bike so i was robbed of that rewarding kill lol

i usually cut the alarm off at the box and either whack it or put it in water as i hate the death scream !!!! lol

just check with someone like griff on the relay etc or you will be a no bike man till you get one if needed.

ive only removed after mkt alarm like datotool spyball etc and its usually a half hour job after removing panels etc to access wires.

if you need a relay get that first before starting as you may find yourself having a :rant lol

+1 too what Lonner says , i removed my Meta alarm off my Mille , I did warn it on a number of occasions used very harsh words but still it chose to laugh in my face !!. Just look for all the wires methodically from the alarm to your loom , probably all black wires , aprilia's are multicouloured. And just cut them off or un-solder them depending how proffessionaly they were fitted.
As for insurance , never told them , lets face it if the bike was stolen then recovered , more than likely the thief would have removed the alarm anyway

Hated the datatool alarm on my previous mille but got to say I quite like the meta alarm on this one as it just works and doesn't go off unless it's supposed too- result.
Never removed an alarm on a working machine but the advice above sounds spot on. The alarm is basically breaking into your bikes circuit with normally open and closed switches which activate depending on alarm condition. I would imagine it would be a fairly simple job with the good old haynes manual for circuit reference.

Good luck

also to add to my post i think its the later 04 on bikes that have the plug in alarm fitting so should be ok with the 99-03 bikes on removal without issues.

i think ?

thanks guys for your input will take a look at the weekend if i get the time :biggrin
