Ticking sound

Hi Everyone, after owning 3 RSV's I decided it was time to give up on the neck, back and wrist pain and buy a Tuono. One of the rare good decisions I have made and I'm very impressed and comfortable :)

I've noticed that when I turn the bike off I get a ticking noise from the tail end which lasts for about 10 seconds then stops. I never had this from the RSV's so I'm a bit concerned. Should I worry or is this normal?

I had a Yam which did that, turned out to be the alarm unit fitted under the seat. It failed totally soon after so I had it disconnected.

Mine doesn't tick and it has a meta alarm fitted. Saying that though have you taken the rear seat off and tried to figure out where it's coming from

Long shot but ...

Maybe it`s your rear disc cooling down ? Check and see if it`s mad hot after you get off maybe your caliper is a bit seized ??

Ha

My Tuono brake is **** as per the norm , my mille on the other hand has a cracking rear brake in standard setup and i havn`t bled it or fettled around with it for two years :dunno....... :thumbup

Damn, I did mean to check out the ticking noise but it starts ok so I couldn't keep off it!! Why have I ridden RSV's for the last 5 years??? I have a feeling it's the alarm. It's coming from the left hand side of the tail so I'll have to strip the back off to have a look.

definitely a death watch beetle infestation....ye'll hae tae catch them in a jar filled wi peanut butter

If anyone else gets this problem I've found a solution by guessing at something that was mentioned in the alarm manual and it works. Disconnect the battery for at least 50 seconds, reconnect then turn the ignition on, off, on. Job done no more clicking :)

Sounds like that alarm needs to come off before it strands you in the middle of no where, mine started playing up and then packed up totally. !0 mins to remove a thatcham professionally Meta fitted alarm with no instructions. I figure they are not worth having any way !!

Agreed!
My mate was stranded while out on his Ducati 900.The Datatool started clicking then went into alarm.Could'nt reset or disarm it and the bike would'nt start.Trailered it home,(with the alarm screaming away!) and took us half an hour to remove the alarm.
Funny thing was, while we were loading the bike with the alarm blaring away, loads of folks came by,but not one of them asked us what we were doing.
