The routing for the cable is different on the 98-99 mille. On these bikes the throttlw cable goes under the tank at the left side of the tank.
The TB's throttle mechamism on thes bikes would not facilitate the cable coming from the front of the bike.

Well, I,ve given up. I bought some Gilles vario bars c/w risers and could not get the throttle cables to route properly without them being stretched when on left lock even though this is definitely not supposed to happen. I,ve put the original bars back on and am selling the Gilles kit if anyone wants it. I,ve also got a high bar kit/cw top yoke/risers, Renthall bars etc and Hell extended clutch and brake lines and will put a for sale post up soon. I,ve not got the patience anymore and will stick to standard from here on in.

You need to re-route the throttle cables round the R/H side of the headstock for high bars :thumbup
