Iv'e been riding for 2 years now, 600 r6 and an FZR 600 (US YZF) Iv'e been offered an rsvr 2001 for £1000 off someone who i know and trust, never had a bike this powerful, is there anything i should be aware of with the bike? Should I buy the bike and is the bike suitable for everyday commuting as well as weekend twisties use?

Would love your thoughts

Been riding track for 6 years - R6, great power, very light and 2000 was best build - just changed to RSV1000R 2003 - NOTHING compares to 2 stroke in sound and feel, RSV is one of the best track bikes with 95% rating for track fun - and face it, it's 130-135 HP at best so not like you're getting on the RSV4 with 200HP under your but...in which case you may want to use caustion bit more - go for it, you will not regret it

Well if you don't buy it I will.
Must be something not quite right for it to be going for a grand
a bit different to what you have been used to in power terms, more the way it produces it than the amount.
Great bikes and even if you don't get on with it you can always sell it on, won't lose money on that!!!!!!!¿¿??????

If your gonna use it everyday for commuting keep a close eye on the oil level, and the amount of oil in the air box, it will build up over time with lots of miles, especially if the throttle is used heavily....

the bike was a catD, flipped over, torn seat, crackedscreen etc. he's a bike mechanic (brother in law) and needs the cash, the bikes mint. Love the swing arm, took it around the streets carefully just before the snows and loved the way it felt, bit high though. Never really opened it up and never had a bike that lifted at the front without dropping clutch so this was my main concern. I think i'll but it and take it easy on it.

thanks for advice

Buy it it seems you cant go wrong buying it off a mechanic brother in law

The twins are more subtle in power than the R6, its a bit like having traction control and shouldn't catch you out unless your real cack handed

I love my rsv and im buying a Tuono for the wife
