Guys, I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am thinking of letting go of my first ever superbike, my Mille-R, and change onto something that is a lot more reliable, especially as an all-weather bike. I will not stray away from a 1000cc superbike though, but I am a little short on knowledge and reliability stories on the other bikes. Any reccomandations will be appreciated.

I have tried all the above and would say a K3/4 GSXR is the best BUT for real world riding 70-140mph the RSV is as good as any of them.

Honda reliability takes some beating, but buy a good pillow for when you doze off :biggrin

If reliability is your no1 consideration then the CBR is a top choice. Like Sprocker said Honda reliability takes some beating. I commuted on my blade all year around in all weathers and it never missed a beat. Never had 1 major problem with it that I can recall from riding it through the winter months. Just kept it clean with all the winter crap on the roads and it was good to go. The finish on fasteners, the engine block etc. bodywork fared pretty well enough but then I kept washing it off regularly. Usual stuff really.

Can't vouch for the others as have never ridden them. The CBR is a bit, well, bland though which seems odd to say. I like bikes with a bit of character to them. The Blade just does what it does - to me it lacks some soul :dowhat

Hi Stefano, it really depends what you want from your choice of bike and what sort of riding experience you want from it, and what model/year of each. All the bikes you've listed should be reliable enough, but go looking at forums based on each of them and you'll find people talking about problems because they do and will happen. Nature of the beast i'm afraid sir :)

For me, i'd go for a 1st generation ZX10r, not because its the "best" but because it is an animal of a bike and has some character. They aren't however very friendly :laugh

Is it only reliability issues that is making you think of swapping? As Neil B rightly says, real world biking terms, you'll not find much more than you've already got :thumbup

Fireblade for me, like the new look and it does everything so well, just no character and 4 cylinders!

Don't like the afterthought mirrors on the ZX10, R1 ain't bad, the Suzuki is starting to look dated to me. Trouble is, all the Japanese stuff is just so similar.

Could only be a new Aprilia :thumbup ..wot are those other foreign brands :dunno

What reliability issues:confused
All bikes can have there quirks/faults.
Even Honda, and dashlights melting the dash, twice underwarranty and after.

I liked the first ZXR10, pitty they civilised it.

If you need a hack commuter bike, get GSXR/CBRrrrrrr/ZX10r/R1.
Just pick the color you like

If you want to enjoy winding roads, then RSV

If you want reliability issues........................
buy a :pukeDucati :roll

Not rode one but I have heard the K5 is pretty hard to beat. The jap bikes are too cramped for us big blokes. Make sure you ride before you buy and good luck mucker.:thumbup

any suzuki 1000 k1 to k6 are great bikes i had 1000k3 for 2 years what a bike fast, handles, comfy(for sports bike)and super reliable and at bargain prices.

honda fireblades are ok but spares pricey. i have met 2 people who have bought the latest 08 model and wish they hadn't don't believe everything the mags say!!!!!!!!!

kawasaki zx10r god damn ugly!! first version was nice though bit of an animal only downside it ain't a very refined machine.

yamaha r1 02/03 model bloody lovely, underseat newer models are like riding 600's they need to be revved gutless at low revs.

fully agree with reliability issues with the aprilia's just look at this forum help with this, help with that, bike wont start blah blah blah but at end of the day they look sexy as hell, go round corners on rails and make ya work for ya thrills which i like in a bike cause when it all comes together on ya fav road what a buzz.
