Things to watch out for?

I'm going to look at an RSV R 2001 thats for sale in the next few days.
Does anyone know of anything specific I should look out for visually or when testing it.

Cheers

The obvious things first, condition of the bike, the bike should be in A1 condition, has it's been looked after, regularly cleaned and polished. There should be no signs of any accident damage i.e no low sides etc... Check for any dings in the frame behind the gear lever and rear brake lever. Check the swinging arm for marks behind the exhaust can. Is the owner knowledgeable on Aprilia's. Is the service history up to date with a stamped service book. Has the bike been kept on an Optimate, Does the bike start easily, listen out for any clancking noise on start up ( sprag clutch on it's way out ). Check the functions of the digi clocks. A test ride is a must, check discs for judder, go though all the gears, the bike should feel taught and precise. Any concerns, walk way, there are plenty of mint, well cared for ones out there. Good luck

An absolute must Andy...make sure it's a Yellow one or you'll be left at the back :biggrin

Welcome Andybo :thumbup, not sure about the yellow ones :lol speedo's pack in :lol, a few things but nothing serious , just make sure it has a full service history . Many threads on here that will inform you what to look out for m8. Enjoy :thumbup

Cheers for all the advice, hopefully i'll have an RSV in the garage very soon

I,ve noticed your LOUD CANS SAVE LIVES slogan :thumbup, ive got an akra on mine and thought this was loud until i heard rsvr47's arrows . If its got a standard pipe on it and you want to be noticed go for the arrows m8, a wee bit more expensive but worth the noise factor :thumbup

It's advertised as having a LeoVince exhaust so i'll have to wait and see. Ususally LV's sound pretty impressive but can always look at upgrading to Arrows if not :thumbup

The loudness of a used can will depend on the condition of the packing, not the make of exhaust, Arrows are not generally overly loud as new, also if the packing has all but gone the bike will not run right:thumbup

I stand corrected , :hail:hail Badger . I never knew that m8 so i guess the arrows i heard were fettled with . All i know is you can hardly hear mine over the arrows but then again he did have twin exit ones . Sounded awesome on acceleration :thumbup

yes got to admit it they sound great and the packing is good and the performance is spot on:thumbup

Twin acro's, map2 and renegade air box for me, but to be honest they are all pretty load mate. Welcome aboard buddy :thumbup
