Right lads

Managed to get the clutch off the Mille ( easy job to be honest )

I put the bike on the sidestand and no oil was in the basket ( is this normal?)

The first steel that i came to was like this, is this blueing ?

And the last was like this

The springs were about 1.69inch so were showing a little short. and they seemed not tightly bolted up at all.

The friction plates were fine thickness but the stack was just in spec.

The fricition material on the plates was Black is this normal??

Should I also wash the slipper diaphram as it has black residue on it?,?

I have ordered a new stack anyway but would like to know your comments please as I am ***** at this sort of thing.

Thanks Guys

Flipping Hec Tim, you're getting brave dismantling the bike these days.

Yeah, those steels look like they've had a bit of heat through them, check to make sure they are perfectly flat and not warped. If in doubt, bin them and get new steels. Chances are if they are blue they need to go in the bin.

The friction plates will be black as that's all the ****** carbon particles trapped in the oil discolouring them. Again make sure they are within tolerance and not cracked, glazed, warped or worn out.

If your replacing your steels then fit new friction plates too.

Have a look at the edge of the basket to make sure no ridges have formed, this can cause the clutch to stick and become notchy in operation.

Your springs are on the minimum size mate so they need sticking in the bin too.

Hope this helps.
