Well i know i will get some stick for this but hey...... i am single with the cash..... i have booked a 2 hour test ride on a 848, followed by a 2 hour ride on a 1098s.................. not seen them in the flesh before ... and got to admit it the 848 kicks out 121 at the rear wheel:devious so i will let you know how it goes.......... Don at Southern Cross has offered cash for mine with a large reduction on a new Factory:dunno

must admit i would love an 848 - prob more than a 1098 tbh. and the white scheme looks the nuts - finally a ducati that you HAVE to clean 3 times a day lol.

Get one of them & your out of the forum, miss it,miss out.
Very nice bikes fella..:thumbup:thumbup

I'm waiting for a test ride on the KTM RC8 and also the new 2009 RSVR, however i was mightily impressed by the RC8 at the bike show this year.

Yes! the RC8 looks the dogs & just sitting on it made me wonder what the little bugger will be like on the road!:devious

My thoughts on the RC8 were that the bodywork was designed by someone that practiced Origami, different though:dowhat

Fair enough Badger...my thoughts originally...but then I saw it in the flesh and sat on the bike...feels VERY right...so any misgivings on the bodywork went out the window!!

Loved my 748. Going on the 748 they (Ducati's) MAKE you ride correctly or they are not happy bunnies. When you do though they're bloody marvellous!!

Until that is they eat their rockers!! Be interested in a longish write up mate. Personally I think the 1098 is too much, they are supposed to be real brutes on the road.

I agree Newboots, it does feel very right. I was a bit "that's a bit too angular" as Badger says but having seen it, sat on it and looked at it in detail, it's a very well put together and impressive piece of kit.

848?

Went to the dealer in my area, he showed me 3 Ducati engine in pieces in the shop, he sells Aprilia's, not Ducati's... apparently the're not very reliable engines, at least, not like Aprilia's but the guy's wont admit it. Any one here who own's these...:confused THE TRUTH...
Anyway!!! what is this??? Ducati Forum??? :dowhat

Yes I agree if it was to be any thing other than an Aprilia then I think the RC8 would be it you when you sit on a bike whether it feels right and the RC8 definatly felt that and with all the new bits for it in the MCN this week you could make it into one fantastic piece of machinery..

Well the test ride has been completed..... started with the 1098s and followed that with the 848....................... are you all sitting down........... the 1098s is in a different catagory compaired to the RSVR...and that is above, not below.... the riding position is very good and the speed through the gear box at all revs is just unbelievable, it wanted to raise its head in each gear not in a violent way but in a caring way as if it knew what you wanted it to do...... sat at 76mph on the M3 car beside me gentle touch of the throttle and she lifted like the mist in the morning...slowly and gently, and i could not believe how confident i felt on one wheel compared to how i feel on my rsvr... the bike was light and you could feel that, through town she was great and the turn in point was very good... the only bad point i could find was the dealer only put 8 litres in it for me..... and he had to put another 8 litres in when i got back:devious...

Now the 848 great bike and very very nice to ride, this i would rate about the same as the rsvr, if not slightly better..... light great riding position and very easy to ride, needed a bit more on the throttle but that was expected.

So there you go i am looking at my finances and will hopefully get a 1098s for my birthday in March pending a couple of things. I know that i will get slagged off for saying it is better but for those that are about to start tapping on their keyboard...... get off your arse and take the 1098s for a test ride before you do, and i am betting that most of you will agree with me, because it is a great bike that has everything you want from a bike................................ so go on then i am ready for it:thumbup

It does look nice and it is going to be better

BUT out on my Rsvr today for 4 hours and i loved every minute of it.....Still love the rsvr...........:inlove

No slagging off from me...I love my bike and am in no hurry to try anything else out...plus with house move, kids etc...anything in that price bracket is just a dream!!!!
All the best enjoy!

Go for what you want m8 :thumbup, guess you will be still joining in the ride outs :dunno all the best in what ever you choose and ride it like it was the last day on earth :doug:thumbup
