I added an even higher spec ohlins to the rear and re-valved the front with ohlins on my r. TADA is a factory in a better color! How you can like a bike with 3 different shades of gold is beyond me! The unsprung weight on the wheels is a difference you aint gonna notice and the carbon is just bling!

Wrong. :no

Try riding a bike back to back with lighter wheels - you will be very surprised how much better the handling is immediately. I know I was.

Unless you test ride the same bike with standard wheels and then with lightweight wheels that's tough to say ?

I had standard 916 wheels on the race bike at first, then 5 spoke Mag Marchesinis. Can't say i noticed LOL. Although i was known for being a hamfisted monkey.

OK.

My Tuoldo - brembos then Oz.

Then later off My Oz shod Tuoldo onto Windy's with Brembos & back onto the Oz's

Last October out with Windy, riding Liz's R model, onto Windy's Factory and back to the R model.

you can feel lighter steering and quicker turning, i am not the only one who notices, pop over to AF1 and do some searching. there are plenty on there who will tell you the upgrade to Oz wheels is the best suspension mod for a mille/RSVR etc.

Goes without saying.I think if you couldn't tell the difference between forged and cast wheels then you're not the type of rider who cares how deep you can get er' into an apex and then flick er' over for the next set of turns that has you with full lazer concentration, constant attention to your line and then laughing you *** off when you've just bombed a set of corners that normally had your *** puckered-up.For me living in Switzerland it's corner heaven or hell for some but me I couldn't give a toss about straight line or top speed. It's all bout the turns and having er' in a rollercoaster of fun!
But I fault no man who chooses to be content to push er' into a turn at a conservative speed and them a hand full of throttle to get the buzz flowing.Every man to his own vices be it carbon, horsepower, light wheels, nonsensical bling **** or lazyboy chairs with two wheels(cruisers, never understood em')

To me the R just look cheap and nasty next to the Factories :dunno

wouldnt go that far...i cant stand those **** lookin gold frames .....
it does not cost that much ££ to get ohlins fitted onto a non factory model !

lol factorys are better but those gold frames ??? not for me :crazy

Another way to do it is what I did. End of last year I bought an 04 RSV Factory (£3750) and an 07 Matt Black Tuono (£3850) on E-bay. From the RSV Factory I swapped over the Ohlins forks/shock/steering damper, genuine OZ rims, PC III, Mivii Ti GP cans, Carbon mud guard and hugger, brake&clutch Brembo radial master cylinders. Sold the RSV on E-bay as an R model for £3850. Spent another £550 on carbon bits (E-bay again) to bring the bike to Factory spec, so at the end of the day I ended up with an 07 Matt Black Factory for £4300. Took a fair bit of work and hunting around but it can be done. Since then I've spent about another £1500 on some tasty extras (rear sets, levers, screen, 15/42 sprockets, open air box, more carbon etc, etc...) Got the last of the bits in today so will post some pictures as soon as the bloody snow clears!

Mr. Jones, that's a pretty complicated way of doing things, but hat's off to ya for getting the bike you wanted in the end. The Factory's aren't to everyones taste; when I first saw the gold frames (on an RSV-R in Taz) I thought they were awful - too blingy, didn't match the wheels, which in turn didn't match the forks...

In time though, they grew on me and when I saw my T Factory on Ebay I had to have it, simple as.

I have to say though, the gold of the frame/wheels/forks do seem to match better on the '09 models. Or is it just me?:dunno

To be honest mate, i'm astounded each and every one of you hans't had the frame powdercoated.

The weird gold frame does nothing for me.

So what would the cost be to strip the bike down and powdercoat a frame to a more tasteful color ,GBP? I've thought the same but it's gotta be pretty pricey.

Coating would be £100 tops.

Stripping it down and putting back togetehr though a much different story, i'd guess £200-300 at least

I have just had my swinger powder coated, plus a bunch of other little bits. I have not got the time to strip the frame back, I will fire up some pics when she is sorted.

100 GBP +/- ain't bad! But the devil lies in stripping the bike down proper and re-assembly. I'll raise my hand an admit that's beyond my mechanical abilities. Simple electronics, servicing, add-ons, liquids, no problem but dropping engine and pulling out wiring etc....nah. But just looking at the price list of TripleS ( thanks v60 Paul) makes me believe it's doable without breaking the bank but what color do you choose for a 07 Factory????..HHMMMMMMmmmmmm....

Black

Black - after all, black is the new black

As for a strip down & rebuild it isn't really a case of ability, it's more a case of tools, time and memory.
The Tuono needs quite a few (expensive) service tools to remove major parts, you need the time (Winter Project) and you need to remember how the feck it all goes back together (digital cameras are a feckin godsend for cable routing etc.)

The skill level isn't really that high, you aren't really "adjusting" anything.

Sorry, don't wanna offend the owner of that bike, but nahhh don't like it. Apes have always been distinguishable from the rest. That to me just looks like a n other bike with a fancy tank. Where's the carbon ?????????, can't see it because the rest of the bikes hiding it. If you ask me the only people who wine about the gold frames either just in denial or mebbe can't quite meet the extra expence. Dunno, but I ferkin luuuuurv my gold frame. If their was one hundred bikes in a row I gaurentee the first one you'd see would be the Tuono Factory with its gold frame and every one else would be staring at it thinking fook me i wish that was mine. Nuff said.

Jay - it's not mine, it belongs to a Canuk. I think Shovelhead (make that Snothead at the minute :lol) might have met him.

I dont like everything he has done, but I do like the black etc.

For me I would go more gloss on the frame, and Nobi - in the flesh you would see the carbon. :yes

Colour is purely personal so it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
