Wrote a post here a couple weeks ago about buying a 2006 tuono and or a new 2007 with warranty and also a trade in for my current BMW. I got some good feedback from you guys and most suggested buying the 2006 T as it was spotless with only 5000km on the clock and a good price. Well, got searching on italian web sites (moto.it) and found loads of aprilias, rsv, t's and factories. So found a factory at a cracking price and called the guy up and bought me a 2007 T factory with 5000km and a bargain price of 7500 euros.Totally spotless and standard bought and serviced from the same shop , one owner desperate for quick sale. I will pick it up in a couple of weeks as I gotta sort insurance and import papers as I live on an island called Switzerland that chooses to stay out of the EU but not a problem to buy in EU thank God.

Nuff with the blabber. Test rode the 2006 T and totally loved and bonded with it's vibe. Engine, handling, brakes, position... everything just seemed to made to my likes. Now I've gone out and got me a factory and any write-up doesn't really say what great differences between the two models and NO! I'm not a ****** as Ohlins suspenders are enough argument for the extra cash but my question to youz out there that have owned/rode the two, how much difference as to engine performance, throttle response ( read it was snatchy) and the obvious HANDLING do you get outta a factory.
Regardless of any arguments I'm getting a factory for a grand more than a basic T so I'm looking forward to them Ohlins..mmmmm!:

Engines are identical on the Gen 2 Factory & R models.
The difference is the Ohlins, forged wheels rather than cast & carbon bling everywhere.
Get the suspension properly sorted - either professionally or read up on it & it will out corner almost anything on two wheels.

Ridden my mates R back to back with my factory and defo a 'different' ride. How much this is down to the plusher suspenders or just set up difference it was hard to tell.
To me the R just look cheap and nasty next to the Factories (sorry fellas, don't mean to offend) and for the extra Grand you've got around 2.5 Grands worth of extras. Money well spent in my opinion.

I don't think any one would argue whether the Factory is a plusher ride as not a sane person could fault ohlins. I think that the ones who want to " push" their bikes and get to their edge of performance will see the light of a Factory but I certainly wouldn't say the non-Factory model is anything to sneeze at. I ain't into bling but I have seen numerous threads about the rear shock on the tuono being good for nothing so for me it's about the suspenders. The color coordination is a bit hard to swallow but it's easy to look past once you've slung a leg over er'.

wouldnt go that far...i cant stand those **** lookin gold frames .....
it does not cost that much ££ to get ohlins fitted onto a non factory model !

Honestly, who chose the f...ing color scheme? You just can't put 4 shades of gold,blue,red,white,black,brown.....together.I agree you can put on ohlins to an R and feel better about the looks but I think front and back would be some serious $$$$$$.

Know what you mean on the frames....they do grow on you after a while though!
Front forks £800 Rear bouncy £450 Set of wheels £700 Carbon belly pan £450 & assorted other bits of bling £350. Hmmmmmmm nearer 3 Grand then!

Defo worth the extra initial outlay....and yes I was harsh in calling em nasty.....soz :)

I'm going out on a limb here, i'd bet if you took the same rider and both bikes, both set up correctly, the rider wouldn't even notice the difference on a normal road ride.

Its not about the bike factory or r its the rider nob(no ofence) on a factory or racer on r bet the racer wins.every one rides bikes differant some good some bad me i ride like i stole it.complete ****.hey ho thats why ive chrashed plenty of times

the only thing worth fittin outta that lot is the rear shock....which i can get for 250 ..so that 3 grand outlay is very easily wittled down.

All you see is the road.:thumbup

True...if that's all you want out the package then that's def' the way to go.

See me! I bought the Tuono for it's looks as well as it's ride so I'm happy to pay extra for the bling. Beat a good deal outa Mr Taz when I got mine and there was less than a grand diff in the price new, was a no brainer for me.

Suspendies....hmmmmmm. Upgraded to Ohlins on a few of my previous bikes from stock and the transformation in handling is a revelation!! Worth every penny and according to most gurus is the very first thing you should spend your hard earned on before pipes, bling, power Cs etc.....

And yes it's all about the rider sure but put that same rider on a bike with fettled suspension and he'll take seconds a lap off...

The old adage holds true here as in many things; "You gets what you pays for"

Yer dead right imo, whits yer fav colour. Do ya buy cause you'll use all it's atributes, do ya buy cause ye've more dosh and want to splash, do ya buy cause that's it and ya love it. It's only seen at stand still. I get something different from all ma bikes, doesn't mean ones better or worse than the other.

According to the video.

You'll also find them in industrial estates making anything from small bangs to big bangs or should that be thunder.A major cause to global warming and harmful pollutants that cause cancer and other life threatening diseases.

Me, age, experience, weight to power ratio I go for a factory, lots of sweat, blood and guts, especially during the industrial revolution. Many an innocent child killed through mal practice.

However, since the introduction of unions it has become better and that's why we have the Tuono Zone.

Yes you would, the difference is massive, and it's almost all down to the rear shock on the R model.

An R model is quite skippy & harsh over bumps, where the Factory just floats across them. (I have ridden both back to back)

The lighter wheels are noticable on turn in the bike just flicks in almost without effort, and the R is pretty good anyway.

The Carbon is bling, but the difference in price is more than covered by the suspension, so it's just a nice bonus.

The 10 shades of gold isn't my cup of tea, every time I look at the new girl I start to wonder about stripping it down and getting the frame & wheels all done black, but then the forks look odd.......:dunno.

I went factory - mostly because I wanted to, but Liz's R model - with the rear Ohlins fitted is pretty damned close, if I was limited on budget I would be quite happy with an R and I would just replace the shock.
