Hello,

So I've been the owner of a 2003 Tuono for a week now and it's a hoot. I've been riding for just over a year, I had an SV650 for 9 months previously but a small accident saw it written off. My bike came with some modifcations already, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how it will differ from a standard Tuono and if there are any other 'essential' mods I should do to complement them.

It has:
Arrow full race exhaust
Forza chip
44 rear sprocket 16 front sprocket

Welcome and good intro!

Nice bike.

The three mods you've described are the top three for increased performance (plus removal of restrictor in airbox, which is almost certainly done too). I've also a Forza (100) chip which sharpens throttle response and eliminates the 5k flat spot. It's designed too for the after market performance exhaust.

The gearing was originally 17/42 (front back). Yours (like mine) is there std mod to make gearing more manageable at lower speeds (e.g. in town) plus increased acceleration. Top end is still 150+, so lowering increasing the gearing makes good sense for normal road use.

PS: Looks like your bike may been magnet grey (like the coil covers) and gold originally and most of the grey bits have been resprayed black. Radiator side plates are also after market.

PPS: After market brake levers plus mirrors have been changed to same/similar design as a Gen 2. All pretty common changes, except for respray.

I also updated from an SV650 (SK1) to a Tuono, but had a good few years biking under my belt. Ride carefully, especially with only a around 1yrs biking experience plus 115BHP at the back wheel!!

Yes it was resprayed and bling bits added by a previous owner. I am quite careful on this bike, the seating position encourages a more relaxed pace whereas sitting forward would make me ride in 'serious mode' all the time.

Welcome aboard fella, nice bike you have treat it well and give it respect and you will have many happy times on it, they are very addictive

Hey up & welcome pal,

I had a Kwak er6n straight after passing my test, then traded 2 months later for the tuono, a bit scary at first, but as peeps have said just treat her with respect, I found the engine braking hard to get used to, but what a fantastic bike once you get your confidence along with a a bit of experience,
I've now had the bike 2yrs along with a R1 I've had nearly 12 months,
Best thing I've done is team up with some well seasoned riders, I listen to them & try to watch and learn, so far so good,
Happy n safe riding pal.
