So what advantage does a 3" taller genuine Aprilia screen actually offer on an 06 TuonoR?

I can tell you. Absolutely feck all.

It does look very nice ... bit of a double-bubble thing going on but in terms of protection and general performance its perhaps WORSE than the dinky short standard screen.

I wear an AGV and the visor used to whistle a bit. With the taller screen it whistles a bit more and there is definitely more helmet lift >100mph.

Am I please with the £36 spent?

If the wife asks ... "yes .. it looks great"

But honestly? I'd rather have spent it on 4 x cases of Stella from the Co-op!

Now put the the old one back on , and go for the same ride , then come back and say it isent eney beter  I wood not put my STD one back on now after swopping them a cupple of times , wish I had kept the taller one on at my larst track day as well , lesnt lernt .

Scuse a newbie for joining in ;)
I have only been riding a T since July but I fitted a taller screen 1 week after I purchased my 10 plate.
It might be because I an a short arse but I find the new screen is better also protects the speedo etc.
Also looks much better

Thats the stuff Mike.. pittin thi boot intae Tifa straight away. Good first post min u wull fit in oan here nae probs... welcome

Thanks for the welcome. Must admit lurking for awhile before finding something I could comment on

Bit of a novice and you guys all know T's really well.....the humour is fearce

Was on the previous site before it crashed and found the posts really useful.

Fitted a 15 tooth front sprocket based on the forum advise and it transformed the bike at slow speeds

Just get stuck in Mike, everyone knows its never too serious on here until someone does ask for a bit of advise, and then we will help of course. We lost tonnes of info off the old site and I don't think anyone will put any real stickies up untill we know its permanent.

fitting a taller screen on a T?

go and sit on the naughty step...

Bahahahaha~~~

+1 for Tifa. It's a feckin' nekkid bike Nob, ya ******' knob!

And Mr Waters. Your assessment of the humour being "fearce" here struck my funny bone to the core! Hail and well met young man. Enter the fray swinging.

AND... yer obviously a cat person. I like you already. I have two felines. Ducati is a fluffy grey monster and Aprilia is a polydactyl six toed Siamese pain in the ***.

The taller screen will make your helmet whistle more as the screen you have is directing more airflow to your neck area

But at speed you should find less hitting your chest

The wifes bike is like this im taller and my neck is getting all the draft but its great for her as its going on to the top of the helmet

I find whatever screen you have is a comprimise to where its directed

I find the wind hitting my neck is easier on long journeys than the constant blast on the chest at over 80+ but it makes my helmet noiser

My opinion is a taller screen is really only of use on long motorway journeys as on back roads the wind does not seem to be a problem, its not constant. as your moving around more and changing direction

Wind direction also makes a difference, ride south on a road and turn back and the windblast will be different

I tried a Laminar Lip. Looks ok, but just buffets the **** outta my head. At 195 cm though, I'm pretty much used to having part, if not all of me, out swinging in the wind.

Dealer fitted a genuine Aprilia screen on my T.
Part number, AP8791293 price was £121.69

Mind I did not pay for that, along with the Akkas and heated grips all thrown in the deal.

Any way. I fiited the screen after trying the standard one.
I would say the improvement was about 25%. So glad I didnt buy it as I think its way too expensive for what it does.

Although I dread being called a "nob" or a "knob" again by that trappy yank ... >;-/

I tried the advice about comparing one v tother today. 30 miles on same route with each at up to a pleasant 106 ... and yes, with the taller screen there is less blast on the shoulders ... but more on the visor.

Same amount of dead insects.

More helmet lift

But the taller one (brand new off e-bay for £36) does look the nuts so I am going to keep it.

My last bike was a TLR100R which had a fairing so massive and effective that even at 160 you were out of the breeze.

The decision to swap to a naked may well preserve my license and certainly offers more grin factor.

Well I'm now DOWN to 6 points!
Was on 12 but escaped a ban by playing the cancer card,....I think the magistrates felt sorry for me.

Jaysus lad... you really are "new" aintcha? I was making fun of nob, not you. And nowhere did I insult ANYONE enough to be called a Yank, you pommy supercilious overbearing ****. Oh, btw, good choice with the Suzuki. I still have my '97 TL1000S. Gangbuster F U N !!!

lol Wolf

I'm not as sensitive as all that.

The banter on this forum is what keeps me coming back. Oh ... and the advice, tips, photos, stories etc

Alberta was a big clue and the Canadian flag another but realising you were not a Yank I rather thought you might have risen and joined in with the "20 stone = average weight for an American" comment; but no.

Good that we agree on the TLR. My first twin was a TRX850 and that pretty much turned me away from 4's forever although (whisper this bit) I'd love a go on a RSV4.

PS Yank ... you are right about me being a **** but I think you may have meant "sanctimonious" rather than "supercilious" - just saying.
