I'm going to be fitting a renntec rack at some point so after a quick look theres 10 allen bolts to undo and/if the 2 bungee points . Is this right or am I missing any other bolts . As always it looks easy but I'll not hold my breath lol

Hi Floakey, had mine off a couple of nights ago. 4 underneath, 2 on the tail light unit, the rest are on the sides and easy to see. Theres a couple of 8mm bolts on top too. You will see them. Had to disconnect my rear light to pull it out but its an easy job.. Just be careful when pulling it off past the rectifier as it sticks out a bit. Alot easier with 2 people I found. Good luck.

Hiya pal , I see your still up to your neck with the do's and dont's of ape ownership . Yeah had a go earlier and as you said 2 both sides underneath , the 8mm bolts on top , 2 more allen bolts at the back holding the rear light and 2 underneath behind the tailtidy which were a bugger to get out . You say theres some at the sides ? I couldn't see any , mines an 02 btw . Not got the rack yet and theres no destructions so I'll probably give you a shout if it gets on my nerves .

Mine's on an 04 plate but an 03 model. Last of the old shape until the new shape 04 came out. 10 bolts sounds about right. Just be patient and if its not going on take a step back and have a look, don't try to force it. I can get a little ham-fisted with things like this, but once it was over the rectifier it came on/off quite easily. There's another RSV in my town but don't think he's on here. Is that your bike in your photo? Looks tidy. Went up to Southport on Sunday with my mate who has a 2011 Gixxer 600 and parked on the front. Was cold though. Lots of admiring glances from both the bikers and non bikers. She gets alot of attention wherever she goes.

I am from Warrington too mate and I have a red 03 Millie there are a couple round here my mate has one too and my tail unit comes off with 4 Allen bolts underneath and 2 under the riders seat I leave the light unit on and just unplug it

Yeah thats my pita but love her for it , photo was at Rivington . Fitted a renntec rack with no real drama . I thought I needed the tail unit off and thats why I was asking , only slight problem was the pillion seat I had to take the rubber stops off for it to fit but no real probs . Not been southport for ages usually on a sunday . Aye these are cult bikes not born to todays design studios . Happen meet up when I get my weekends off and its a bit warmer .

Thats me just replaced my Tail Unit after all the Wiring mods etc.

30 seconds to remove, 10 minutes of faffing around to replace!!
