Hi all, I have a 99 RSV for the road and 02 'R' for the track. The 99's starter switchgear isn't working, as the 02's switchgear gets the engine to start. However the newer switchgears (the rounder ones) seem to have the locating lug on the inside located further towards the left, which means the right-hand face of the switchgear is located further to the right when you use a newer switchgear on a 99 RSV. This means that you have to move the throttle to the right a little, but when I did this the throttle grip was pressed against the R&G bar ends that are on there and meant the throttle wouldn't snap shut.
So I went onto eBay and bought a 98-01 switch gear but they've sent me a 01-03 one instead! So my question is, has anybody used the newer starter switchgear on a first gen RSV with standard bar ands and had no problems? If it's fine with standard bar ends I'll just swap the 99's R&Gs with the 02's standard ones. Only problem with this is that the 02's bar end bolt just seems to spin around without loosening and letting the bar end release Am I doing something wrong for getting the standard bar end off?
I do prefer the design of the newer switchgears so if it'll work I'll use it.
