Hi Kirky, happy new yr 2 u.

The 98-03 milles don't have plates/protectors on the swingarms as standard. You can buy Carbon Fibre ones off ebay but I've never seen metal ones. A lot of people buy the protectors to cover up dents in thhe swingarm on the right side were the bikes been dropped and the can/link pipe has hit the swingarm.

I should imagine that the metal plates are glued on probably with silicon rubber, try taking the right hand one off and see if there is a dent behind it!

I seem to remember seeing a plate on an 03R with black swingarm that was mounted where your boots would scratch the swingarm, what are you spraying that you need to remove these?

hi thanks for the message and the pitures think they where an extra been told see you had a leo vince end can on it what difference did it make and what did it sound like would you recommend them cheers kirk.

hi wanted to remove them as scratched might try and spray them on as not too sure how held on i have the black frame must have been on that model as you say you have seen just hope there not covering any dents up happy new year to you kirk,

Hi Kirky my 03 has a black swingarm and has the plates your on about think they're just extra protection.

my edwards has a black swing arm and has them on, I think its to protect the powder coating

I would suggest you leave them alone and mask them then spray them, if you try and remove them you could make a far worse mess of things IMO
