Anyone got any tips on setting the suspension up on 2006 'R' models? :thumbup

Also , don't set anything unless you have atleast 1500 mi. on suspension,it need's to breakin' as well...good luck!!!!

now that's one i've never heard before :confused

O.K....let me clear that, for full blown racer's,rip right to the suspension, they constantly tweak it!!!But my take, for what it's worth,is the suspension is tight out of the box!Over time suspension fatuige's....and under track condition's it get's hammered.....but if you'r like me,one trackday every other monty or so,you want to break it in & then make adj. I was also advised to hold off & break it in by a nat. racer, too!Again, that's my way& my take....open to any idea's on this one.:thumbupDo set sag if @ first it is waaay to much!

i can see the argument that suspension "breaks in", i'm not sure if that's necessarily the same type of break-in a motor goes through, but you're right...over time the spring rate will change, dampening will lessen.

but because of that one shouldn't setup the suspension? and for 1500 (for some people, that's a whole year of riding). that I'm having a hard time with. I would think you'd want to setup the suspension for how it reacts the day you bought it (i'd hate to buy 3k in forks and a shock, only to not actually use them to my benefit), and have the notion that I will constantly have to readjust them to suit my ever changing preferences, and their ever change tolerances.

or are we saying the same thing?

:cheers

You know I felt that when I was told to lay off & let them "break in".I can set you'r dirt bike up bitchin',but that's apple's & orange's!!!I admit I'm in THE leaning curve here with sport suspension, but I was told by a guy who raced the cucuit....so I obeyed!!!:dunno Did you happen to check the site out"www.gostar-racing.com________he put's it pretty good. This is the most important part of sport bike dynamic's,outside ride position&tire's&........ect. Can have many intupitation's.And as far as only riding 1500 ayear,well...:dunno
And Skin,I'm settin' my 08 this weekend..let you know......also are you thinking of ohlins valves?

depending on the day, i'm torn between elka, penske, or ohlins on the back. i'll get my forks done by traxxion or LE most likely, instead of going the R/T route. i hope this would be my season where i get my suspension done, but the job this sort of got all crazy...i'm going to just do more track time, and leave the bike stock i think. there's always next year.

after oil and tires, suspension comes next on the hot button topics.....which reminds me, i should go start an oil thread. :laugh

Buy the Penske for the Rear. You will be very happy. The double clicker is good enough for us "non-racers". The front, I think LE, Traxxion, Race Tech and GP Suspension are all good choices. I personally like the Traxxion and GP suspension route because of the Support. That said, LE and Race Tech are good too. Setting sag is 99% of getting it right. Springs and sag, then look at the valving. Cartridges are the way to go if you have the cash :coocoo
