Suspension set up

Hi everyone,

I would like to get some opinion on suspension set up because I have noticed that my arse is bouncing about on the seat like the preverbial pea in a washing machine. I had my suspension set up by Colin Leeder of 100% Suspension in November last year (excellent service and very knowledgable by the way), but the last couple of weeks the ride on the A and B roads I know very well have not felt the same, more choppy/rigid riding over the bumps. Cornering feels great, it's more on the straights. Any suggestions more than welcome regarding possible changes to get back to smoother ride home.

I am 5'7" and weigh 12 1/2 st.
Bike is a '04-'08 RSV1000R.
PVM light weight wheels
The only change since November are the new Conti Sport Attack 2 tyres (which I really rate for feel, warm up and dry/wet weather grip)

Current suspension set up:
FRONT Sag 27mm, Compression 1.5 turns out (from full in), Rebound 3/4 turns out (from full in)
REAR Sag 15mm, Compression 1.5 turns out (from full in), Rebound 16 clicks out (from full in)

Thanks to anyone with more knowledge than me. Role on the good weather next week.

Mark

hi bud take a look at the rebound adjuster it might have slackend off on its own ,i did on my old 2000 mille and the bike bounced like a beachball . Rebound 16 clicks out ? (from full in) i set mine to 7 clicks out and it was perfect

Checked th tyre pressures this morning. They were a little low. Currently running 33psi (2.3 bar) front and 36psi (2.5 bar) rear.

Sorry Rob, should have been more clear. 33 front and 36 rear was what I inflated them to.

When setting up suspension, do you treat the front and rear as seperate, if that makes sense? ie, get the front feeling OK then focus on on the rwear, or vice-versa?

Returned to the standard settings this morning as set out in the owners book. Front feels a little hard and unforgiving!

Have you seen Griff's suspension guide? Link to the pdf towards the bottom of this page. http://rsvzone.com/forums/showthread.php?7123-Suspension-set-up-help-needed/page2

Those settings appear to me to be a firm set up, but that doesn't matter, if you think it has changed check the dogbone mechanism hasn't seized up?
