Hey guys,

I currently own a KTM superduke 06 model and thinking about purchasing either a 2008 superduke R or a Tuono factory for next year.

Anyone ridden a superduke (or R version) and can compare it to Factory Tuono?

Yup, i rode both and decided on the Tuono R, (but get the Factory if you can crack a good deal.) The KTM was bloody good fun but felt a bit Limited, the Tuono is just as much a Loon machine, Mono's in the first 3 gears etc, but it is also capable of doing some serious touring miles... sumit i wasn't convinced that the KTM could do... Also i just felt less cramped and more relaxed on he Aprilia.

Thas a personal perspective mind you, and i did have both the Bikes for a full day... one after the other to get a good comparison.

But in the end Dan tis up to you mate..

Definately going to take one for a spin will probably just get the chance to take a standard R to try out the riding style see if I like it or not.

Would like to be touring too, so some a decent tank is always good.

I took the SuperDuke for a tour in the dolomites for a week and absolutely loved it. More comfortable and less cramped riding position for the legs (I'm 6'5) and the seat was great. I averaged about 300km per day, but my 2005 model's tank needed refilling way too often. The SD has very ample torque low and great midrange coupled with light quick steering which made it a joy to ride all the time especially in the twistys. It felt much lighter than my Tuono, but it could be just a center of gravity difference as I have my Tuono as light as one can get it without a Ti frame or BST's. In my opinion I think the SD was more fun overall that my Tuono for these kinds of tight alpine passes because the power comes much earlier in the revs and it pulls like a freight train right to the top. I love it, and I think I'm buying one in the future especially if they make it with the new 1190cc motor. I still think the Tuono is king on the track though. Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth, but if you really want to know if it's right for you I would test ride it for yourself.

Rode both bikes at the weekend back to back,I have a Tuono R mate has a SD.

The T is far more planted in corners, far more grunt, and seems to handle a lot better,it also has more power.

The SD is a fine bike, much higher seating position with lower pegs,a lot of fun to ride with it's power further up the rev range, although I think the front is a bit twitchy.

Would I swap my T for a SD,never in a million years,my mate also said my bike was a far better bike than his :thumbup

Yeah, never for me either especially not for my well sorted T. But the '05 SD I rode was well sorted fueling and suspension wise. The '07s have some issue I hear, but mine was spot on and seamless with fantastic smooth power delivery from low to midrange.
