Hi guys,
Got meself an mille 02 and shes great to ride when she works properly!.
So far ive changed the can to a pipeworks, opened up the air box a bit and changed the chip to a Dr Rossi one and put asv levers on.also changed the diode thing under the seat and the starter solenoid, didnt do an uprated one at the time as i didnt realise it was an issue then. ..Initially the problems where in the safety circuit, changed and clutch switch and it was all good again..til i changed the bulbs in the headlight that is..
bike started playing up and juddering then cut out with efi flashing up.so at the roadside i took off the clutch switch and she was sweet again..thought it was solved somehow but now she rides along ok then will suddenly judder and the efi flashes again..was going along in 3rd gear for a while low revs but then when i changed down to 2nd the efi stopped flashing again!.. any ideas guys would be greaty appreciated..
cheers

thanks mate for replying,much appreciated...
i changed the clutch switch on the handlebars,i havnt changed the side stand switch as yet.the light for the stand works as it shud and it hasnt come on when the bike judders so presumed it wudnt be that...but i know nothing, this is my first rsv ...
spoke to Griff today and hes recommended i try and get a diag code when the problem happens so will keep an eye on the dash!
cheers

Hi,
Had exact same problem for a week or more. Bike eventually ground to a halt. Got it towed in and found stator shot to ****. aprilia parts quote £250. My dealer got a pattern part for £85. This has been in for a year and no problems. Try Bikers of Southampton if your local shop is no good.

Regards Steve

Cheers for that Steve, i will have a look into that..
Whats annoying is it is really random ,it hasnt happend since i put the post up and i guess ive done a hundred miles or so since.
Im leaving the diag wire connected in the hope it will at some point flash up an error code as i ride along..if it happens again that is!

Stator failures are much rarer on pre 04 bikes as they run a 380w stator whereas the post 04 is 500w which makes it run very high winding temps.

Does it appear more in wet weather or after you have washed it ?

Cheers Spoonz,... it first happened in the rain but since then its been a bit random.
it last happened on sunday ,was fine going,5 miles down the road but then on the way back an hour later it started juddering and efi flashing.doing about 40mph at the time but as soon as i slowed down a gear it stopped and efi went off the dash again!

You might want to check for coroded connections on the atmos sensor in the left air duct. It often gets a bath of water when you wash the bike or it gets deluged. If the ecu detects an abnormal reading from it then it will throw an efi code.

I also had a mate who got the same from faulty fuel pump wiring. that took some tracking down as it was a broken solder joint inside a moulded plastic connector.

thanks Spoonz, i'll have a look at those bits at the weekend and see if i can spot anything...
thank you very much for replying to me

getting error code 23 followed by 34

just got on me bike to come home from work and as soon as i got going it died..error code 23 flashed up folled by 34..
does anyone know if i can fix the atmospheric pressure sensor, error 23, or is it the end of my ecu?
cheers
ep:eek:

Those 2 codes are not really related in as much as a fault on one shouldn't trigger the other.
Check the Eeprom is properly seated as i've seen a few partially come out of the sockets and make the ecu do funny things and check the connections on the ecu plugs.

Something weird going on to get an atmos sensor and a coil error on 1 cylinder at the same time.
If the atmos sensor has gone then it's not available as a spare part so your looking at sourcing another ecu but it's a rare occurance. I've only heard of one over on Af1.

Fingers crossed for something simple but ecu's are not that bad on places like ebay these days so all is not lost either way.
Griff @ AP might even have one (Falco,Tuono etc) share the same ecu just a different eeprom

thanks spoonz, i will have a good look at the wiring and eprom and see if i can spot anything..cheers for that info
