So I ran across this website and thanks to all those who started it up for a knuckle head like me to steal your tricks for what worked and didn't. Thanks so much for the online manual. you saved my money......:devious

My Mille is being stubborn and I thought there was an electrical gremlin in my bike, she just wouldn't start up, the battery was giving one hell of a time.:dunno

So, I got a friends little voltage meter and was acting like a smart scientist around the mille this morning, all the people in my housing complex came over and talked to me, trying to act smart with me. :eatcorn Telling me it could be that red wire there or the lead terminal not installed correctly. :jack

Hooked up the bike to my Nissan Titan truck (not while it was running), through jumper cables, no battery installed in the bike. To my surprise the mille dashboard told me a solid 12.4 V. I tried to start the bike, nothing. :rant

Started the truck, (while the bike key was in the off position) turned on the bike and let it sit for a minute. checked the dash on the mille was a solid 13.3 V. So I tried to start it and son of a B%^& she started like it was brand new.
:doug

So now I need some more help from all you smart mille owners, what batter is the best to buy, winter is coming up, so I intend to buy a new trickle charger too.

What brands have worked for you and which ones to stay away from??:dunno:dunno:dunno:dunno

awesome, thanks for the advice, gotta brand name to ask for.

I am in Germany and "Meine Deutch ist nicht gut." (my german is not good)

YTX-14BS battery if your bike isn't already fitted with one. Buy either a Varta, Yuasa or Bosch battery.

Be careful not to shag the sprag clutch though

These are pretty good to deal with although I am not sure how much they would charge to deliver to Germany. Worth a call though.

Running a YTX 14 BS by YUASA, not the cheap copies...you need the best CCA (cold cranking amps) available. You may do well to install the Yamaha Starter Solonid mod also.
Then when not riding, keep your bike battery hooked up to something like one of these mate...this will keep the battery floated at optimum, so always clean starting.
