Hey fellas,

Looking for a bit of advice again.
During heavy breaking I'm always sliding forward on the bike, theres not much to grip onto as standard.

I've seen these stompgrip tank pads. Anyone got them on their bike? Any good? Also are they easy to remove later without damaging the paint etc?

Cheers.

stompgrips are ace ....had them on the R1 , great for the road , better for the track , you can just lock your knees into them without any effort.

Never took mine off so cant answer that bit tho :)

Nah mate, not really..!! They're clear and so not too noticable....work a treat too............:thumbup

Can't you just cut up your grannies bath mat and stick em on, those ones with the suckers on lol :biggrin

Think I'll get some tomorrow then. They are going for around 30 quid delivered.

Lots of the track day lads and racers say they are the dogs bollocks . I know at least two of them that have removed them and had no problems getting them off using a hair dryer to get plenty of heat into the pad first :thumbup

Rawly

yeah, they are all right, but looked **** on my matt black 02 mille, plus side was I could go out thieving --cos I had no fekin fingerprints left once I had fitted them.
They worked a treat, tho I can live without them on the carbon tank, I just grip a bit more with me legs..arf
Ck

Ordered a set today, will let you know what I think when I go for a ride next.

Cheers

Hi Badgermilk, great name by the way. lol. :thumbup

My mate bought some Stomp Grips for his 2008 R6 and 2006 Fireblade and they looked pretty cool and did the trick in terms of grip as well. They were easy to put on, stayed in place no problems and were surprisingly easy to get off too. Subsequently he bought me a set as a birthday present for my 2008 white RSVR but when we tried to put them on they just wouldn't go on for ****. They were definitely the right ones etc and apparently cut for the tank of that specific model as Stomp Grips are. We tried putting them on four times, taking about an hour each time and exactly as the instructions said, using a hairdryer the lot, and they wouldn't have any of it. They just wouldn't stay on regardless what we did and after about 5 or 10 minutes they just slowly but surely peeled off.

I think a possible reason for this and also the reason I mentioned that my bike was white was that it's a 2008 only colour and the paints kind of weird on it, it's got a sort of mat feel to it, not shiny or glossy at all and a distinctly different finish to other standard Mille's, RSVR and Factorys I've seen. I can't be certain but I have a feeling it probably had something to do with why the Stomp Grips just didn't want to bond to the tank at all. Either way I was really disappointed and it was also £30 down the drain for my mate too.

Rage Rider, thats a bit of a *****. Did you de-grease the tank first?
I'm only down the road from you. Where do you go riding?

Yer we did. My mates obsessed, he's got every cleaning chemical and cloth you can imagine and he really made sure it was dirt, grease and pretty much everything free. He used exactly the same method and stuff on mine that he used on both of his.

As for ride outs I don't really go anywhere in particular, although there's alot of nice forest roads not too far away I try and frequent. However I do shift work so I'm always bloody working doing odd hours etc so I don't get out as much as I'd like.

Anyway where abouts are you?

I tried three set fitting mine, ended up using a heat gun to soften up the pad before fitting. You'll burn your fingers fitting them as well:puke
