Iv got a gen 1 tuono and have got to put the handlebars in lock to remove the key.

This means I can't put it on the front paddock stand and leave it in the garage.

Does anyone know how to remove this system so I can leave the bats straight and take the key out?

Don't do it.

It will probably invalidate any insurance claim if it got stolen.

I am sure you can work round this with a bit of thought.

Or get a headstock stand that lifts it from the headstock so you are able to turn the bars,

Zuki why would a headstock stand let you turn the bars if they're locked. ???

I would much prefer to be able to have the bars straight without the keys in. When we get to winter my bike gets stored on stands and covered as its alot more stable.

Yer ign switch is wrong or knackered mate. You should be able to remove the key when its in the 'off' position.Have a look at the handbook,...the only position where the key cannot be removed is in the 'on' position.(page 28)

I will have a look into it then. My handbook is in 3 languages non of which I speak unfortunately!

He would be able to lift the front so the forks are unloaded, then turn the bars and engage the steering lock.
So it's off the floor but still nice and secure

Gotcha mucker.

Had a look and a quick squirt of wd40 and the key can now be removed without putting the steering in lock!
