I had a good polish of the bike yesterday and noticed the steering damper seems loose/ has a lot of movement. Is this normal? In 20 years of biking never had a steering damper so no idea?
It's probably fine. Steering dampers are designed to have a certain amount of play in them, at the two attachment points there are balljoints that the bolts go through that allow play.
If you grab it and there's a centimetre or two of movement that's about right.
Aye Pmyth min, theres a fair bit o play in them, nothin tae fret ower. Check all the allen screws are tight and the pivot pont is free movin and all shopuld be A OK. Worth aye given it a spray wi WD40 noo and again tae keep everything fine an dandy as its taks a leatherin frae the road spray etc.

Following on from this, didn't know it had one till I looked today! Got the standard sachs on my 08 T. Is it adjustable like the ohlins / arrow ones I've had in the past? Thanks in advance, I owe you all, lol.
