Hi there, everybody,
I'm a new member of RSVZONE from Taiwan.
please forget my poor English.

The problem of my 2003 RSV mille is when I push START button,
the engine just run,but only less than one second, very hard to start the engine.

This bike no used about 5 years,I've cleaned all the fuel system and injector,
and tried "TEST",there is nothing wrong with the display.

Could somebody kindly answer me where the problem is, and how to fix it.

Thanks a lot!!!!

It sounds like you have got the tip over switch up side down.
There is a relay next to the battery which rattles and it is marked as to which way up.
If that is upside down it will run for a few seconds then stop.

Try that first

Thanks Mick!!

But I've tried and check after reading most posts about start problem on this zone.
I've removed all the fairings, and check all the connector, relays, sensors, just can't find the problem...everythings seems alright...

I can start the engine with idling 1000rpm first, but when turn the throttle, the engine comes down.
After slowly turn the throttle to 9000rpm, the engine became can't idle, everytime starts and shut down immediately.
Sometimes, when the engine shut down the display shows "EFI" less then 1 second and back to "COLD", but sometimes just show "COLD".
It's that will be a problem??

I try spill a little fuel into throttle body, the engine can start,so I guess is that a problem about the electronic fuel injector??Can't supply enought fuel??

Thanks for reading and answering!!!

Symptoms certainly point to a fuelling problem - not enough of it. Injectors can get sticky if left for long periods with fuel in them - the fuel eventually turns into something that looks like varnish. Would also be worth testing fuel pressure if you have the equipment to do it, pump might not be very healthy.

Hi Pist'nbroke, thanks for the answer!!
You're absolute right!!
Just like I said before, this bike had no used about 5 years,I took her from my friend, cause I love this bike very much, better than 4 cylinder bikes, even the DUC!!
The first thing I do,replace a new battery with full charge, and clean the tank and pump,as you said, very very dirty inside!!Lots of glue,so I clean all of the Fuel System inclouding change the fuel filter!!Certainty I'll test fuel pressure as you say.

By the way, some says, this bike hard starting after washing or riding in the rain.Is that true?

I real hope I can fix this bike ASAP and go anywhere with her,She is the one I dream everyday,Ha Ha

these bike suffer from not being used!

i have an 02 R with 30'000 miles on the clock, i ride it in all weathers (not snow) and it starts first time every time.

i dont put the battery on charge when its in the garage.

Hi Arryace,I believe what you said!!Hope mine can normal start like yours!!!

Today, after replacing the fuel pipe with pump in the tank.
Everything is alright,it can start with idle now,WOW!!!So excited !!!!
But it too later to start the bike,or my neighbor will call police....
I'll try tomorrow, hope everything will be fine, then I can enjoy riding this weekend!!!Ha Ha!!

Bad Bad News....
My mille can start now,but almost time turn on the throttle, the engine shut down....
Only once,I can ride it in 1st gear and about 68km/hr...then the engine shut down....
Seems like the injector can't supply enough fuel to fire, when the throttle open....

How could I test the fuel pressure regulator ??It seems didn't work well....

There is still something wrong with some sensor(potentiometer, injector value),but I don't how to say in English....

Somebody help me.....

Hi there,
