Ok so just another thing to add to the long list of things that have gone wrong with my bike, the solonoid has gone I no I need to upgrade it to the yamaha one but thats as much as I no can anyone tell me exactly wot I need to get
Thanks guys.:)

QUOTE=LEGS;115939]I bet 75% of all problems with these bikes stem from a poor battery. Upgrade to YTX-14BS or YTZ14S-BS, fit the Yamaha starter solenoid part number 4KD81940-00 and keep the bike hooked up to an Optimate battery conditioner, not some cheap LIDL crap and it's problem sorted.

Once the weather gets colder and with the onset of winter, just watch how many posts appear about the bike not starting[/QUOTE]

Here we are found this. hope this helps.:thumbup

I am pretty sure I have got one of the standard ones in the garage which has only been on the bike for a couple of weeks.
Its the one I bought before up grading but you are welcome to it if it gets you out of trouble for now:thumbup

If you want to splash out cash on upgrade its up to you:dunno

Allready got the upgraded battery thanks for the info on the solonoid unfortunatly i'm not able to hook it up to an optimate the bike does get used every day come rain or shine so hopefully I will be ok.:)

Get the uprated solenoid from Wemoto, costs about £27. If you look for the Aprilia one, it already defaults to the Yamaha one anyway.

I would be inclined to pull the plastics off and clean all block connectors and spray with ACF50 along with any other connections including earths, also slacken off the earth to the starter and clean and reconnect, clean battery terminals and spray with ACF50 as well, and make sure they are tight, don't be frightened of using lashings of ACF50 as it will do no harm.

A good battery and 100amp starter solenoid, i have been using a YTZ14S BS with 230 cold amp cranking power for years in all my Milles along with the yamaha solenoid.

You are using your bike in wet cold weather, so it is vital for reliability to do these things to keep problems at bay.

To start the bike just pull the fast idle out to max and DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE, hit the starter, don't blip the throttle once started, just push back the fast idle.

If it floods when you try to start from cold then turn the throttle round full once and hold it there, then hit the starter till she fires and knock back the throttle quickly as the engine is cold and has lack of oil in the top end till it get time to get there.

I have said this many times, a bloody good battery and better starter solenoid and clean connections is an absolute must on these bikes, if you don't follow this path is leads to other problems including failed sprags.

Anyway girl, enough rambling from me:thumbup

Thanks for the tips badger mick oliver very kindly gave me solonoid which has gone on to the bike today turminals etc are clean pushed the button and nothing now this could be because the borrowed solonoid still isn't man enough the other half is going to put in a new earth lead but other than that i'm out of ideas as for sprags i'm an exspert.;-);-)

Bloody bike its going in the skip.

What's up with it Millemille? :dunno

I assume the pump is priming up as it should when you turn it on? Press the starter and nothing, no clicks, no anything? Get your other half to try shorting across the solenoid, see if the bike at least turns itself over. When was the last time you used the kill switch? They can sometimes stick, it's a known issue that comes up every now and again.

When you turn the key the pump primes press the button and it clicks but not a dead battery type click we tried shorting it and nothing.

Ok, and is that with both your original solenoid and with the one that Mick lent you? Your partner has a mille as well doesn't he? If his is starting, try whipping the solenoid across, and the battery and see if it starts yours.

I did suggest that to him earlier but he didn't seem to think it would make any difference however he's not here at the mo so I might do it anyway.
