Hi guys its been a long time since my last visit but nice to be back.
Ok here is my issue ........

Firstly im crap at mechanics and repairing bikes :confused Im assuming the starter solenoid is under my 03 RSV seat and is square'ish and has two terminals? well anyway this part is getting that hot when I turn over the bike (for a few seconds) that its melting the rubber that sits over the end of the wire that connects to the solenoid/thing. If I were to touch this after turning the bike over for a few seconds I would have a very burnt finger, its bloody hot! Is this normal? im thinking not....:dunno
Any ideas please guys. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, you're right, it shouldn't be that hot!!!
Probably down to a bad/corroded conection. Strip the conections clean up and reassemble.
Bad conections only get worse if left. a bad conection generates heat which makes the conection worse which in turn generates more heat. Cycle continues until something burns out.

Thx for your reply. Very much appreciated. May I direct your attention to this link - http://apriliarsv.com/guides/5114-rsv-voltage-regulator-wiring-modification.html On the 6th image down u'll see the part I'm talking about, the image also shows melting on rubber that covers terminals (zoom in on image). The part I'm talking about is just above the blue wire that is above the guys finger. U still think this is abnormal ? Anyone else have this issue?
When you say strip and clean do u mean just the area that is getting hot or are there other parts that should be done aswell? Sorry about the daft questions but I'm hopeless at this kinda stuff. Thx
