Stalling!

Well it's day 4 of rsv ownership and this morning was the first time that I got to use it. I warmed her up and set off on my way, then when approaching a junction she stalled when down shifting from 2nd to 1st. I re started and carried on and she was fine. could this be due to my engine idle speed as its sitting at about 300 rpm. I thought it should be at leat 600-700 rpm. and is it a simple screw to adjust it?

Regards

Mines set at 1250 ish, i'm pretty sure thats what the manual says to set it at. Try highering the idle speed and see how you get on with the stalling issue :thumbup

I'm with Mr Sprocker, 750 is to low, let alone 300 :eek if you look to the right as you are sat on the bike, you'll find the idle adjuster towards the front of the underneath of the tank (pre new shape only). I have mine set at 1500rpm, which makes for a far more pleasant pulling away experience without the engine getting all lumpy and frumpy and needing clutch slipping shenanigans.

I am such a nipple! the rev counter starts at 1k and not 0 like my old bike! so it's actually 1300rpm not 300. Oh well we all make mistakes! It's stalled twice now, each time after it stalled it was really jumpy so i'm putting it down to being sat in the show room for some time with an empty tank. I've filled it up now and I think that should do the trick. The battery is giving a health 13.5v when idling so i don't think it's electrical.

If it keeps stalling then get your throttle bodies and CO set up as this is most likely the cause of your stalling.

Check your EPROM too as some have reported that cheap EPROMS off FleaBay have caused stalling after fitment.

once a new chip is fitted or a mod is made to the bikes EM system then you really should rebalance the throttle bodies again!
This was proved myself again yesterday when i serviced Spookshows bike ..this helps smooth out the fuellin low down and part throttle ,
mike im confident that this will sort your issue hombre!

it really does make a difference, just ask the lads on here!

let me know if i can help!!

Cheers

Thanks for all the advice guys, took it our for a blast today and it seemed to be fine so I guess is was just a combination of old fuel in the system and sat still for ages. The bike is standard and as far as I know no EM mods have been done. I'm keen to see if it does have an 05 map in it, but I shall probably wait till I get my PC111 and cans then get it set up correctly.

Bleeding the clutch? is it just a case of opening the bleed nipple by the cluch cover and master cylinder to see if any bubbles come up then tightening again?

Cheers lads

hi mike , im not sure what bioke you have im afraid but i do know that you uinder any circumstances have a PC3 map built over a badly set up bike!! this is the wrong way round !!
the throttle bodies need to be set up and the bike tuned before you build the map therefor the dyno operator has a solid or properly tuned bike ( physically) to build the map on too!

if yoy gimme a call mate i will be happy to explain all!!

p,s the clutch bleedeing is easy mate!

pull the clutch lever in , then open the nipple, then close it the nipple!
pump up lever ......et voila!!! works a treat!

Let me know if i can help hombre!!

GRiffer!!
