Anyone ever put a 15 / 44 combo on a Tuoldo. If so would it be too flighty.

Theres a 42 tooth on the rear at the mo but not sure whats on the front. Someone said standard is 17 on a Tuoldo and people drop it down to a 16. I don't find the front end too flighty at the mo but I'm not sure whats on front.

Any ideas guys as I know the Gen 2's have more brake horse power so by putting 15 / 44 on tuoldo would have thought it'd be the equivalent of 15 /42 on a Gen 2.

Best gearing I fownd for my old Gen'1 was 16'43 ,so that was uping it to the equialent 3.5 teeth at the back. standed gearing was 17'42 ,
on my Gen '2 I am running 16'42. wich seams to be bang on for how I like to ride it , I mite go 15'42 for track days ,like brands indi ,or cadwell park ,but for silverstone ,or sneterton 16'42 will be bang on for careying the bike up the long striates .

Ah right. It might be that I have the standard on the front then with the 42 on the rear. Prob why I don't find it that flighty. having it serviced on the 18th August so think I'll have the sprockets changed.

Still fancy a 44 tooth on the rear though if its possible to have one.

After a bit of research 17/40 standard it appears & found no mention of going to 15 on a Gen 1.

Found a post by guru bat saying that 16/44 is good for Tuoldos though?

Also found a post by weeksy (previous owner of mine) saying he changed it to 16/44 but when he sold it to me advert said 1 down front & 2 up rear.

Confused! If 17/40 is standard then 1 up 2 down should be 16/42 not 16/44? Help!

I will work with a 44 ,but you will be reving its **** off at the top of the rev ,rang , wich meens you will be puting a lot of cranck presher into the engine and you will find your oil consumshone will Sky rockit ,you will be pumping it up into the air box , ok for track yous ,with reguler services so you can clean up the mess ,but for road rideing ,its piontless , the same as 15'42 is for the road on the gen,2's , unless you do short roots , wich have the caratoristicks of a MX track.:doug:yinyang

I've e-mailed Griff. Will let you know what he says.

I've also read a 15 tooth on a tuoldo isn't possible as it would mean the chain would catch the swing arm so looks like i might be running a 16/42 or a 17/42. Definitely a 42 on the rear so when Griff does the service might ask him to pop a 44 on the rear instead of the 42 on at the mo.

Oh so standard is 17/42 on Gen 1 & 16/40 on Gen 2?

If that's right then 1 down 2 up on a Tuoldo would be 16/44 - phew!!

Also if that's correct bay you have prob got standard gearing?

See thats why you get into 6th more than me then whereas I spend most of my time in 5th on the roads we do

Bay thats right you carnt fit a 15 on a gen ,1 , thats why back in 03 a lot of us went for 16'44 gearing but we fownd it to much for allrownd road yous , so swiched to 16'43 ,it just youst to carm the top gear down enuff to tour arownd on ,and not as much oil being banged up to the Air box and out the back end .

Ah bay now it all makes sense ;)

I can get into 6th at v low speeds. Still cruises at about 5k rpm doing about 80 tho I think.

Next time we have a spin you can try mine if you want?

Also explains why I never use that much throttle!!

The Fuono's on 15/41 if your interested men :)
And it goes like fookin stink :banana

standard on the tuoldo is 17/42. i had 15/44 for about 3-4 months. a bit too short but a right hooligan! i find 15/42 now a good solution. still a bit of a hooligan .

I thought you couldn't put a 15 on a Tuoldo as peeps have said above? My 16/44 seems fine but never known any different as they were changed before I had it.

I just had a new chain and sprockets fitted at Griffs while it was in for a service,
I run 16/42 which I reckon is about right, but then again I'm an old duffer.
