Hi guys along with changing my tyres this week I'm also changing the sprockets , current sizes are 16 and 42 when I got the bike a new chain was put on by the dealership. I want to change the sprockets for more torque but want to keep the chain what size is the right size to get so I can do this 15,44 ?? Any help would be great thanks.

:no
For a Gen2,the best combo is 15/42.
The standard chain is too short to fit a 44t rear sprocket,...an extra link will be required.

Why would you be fitting a standard chain though ? Surely if you're investing in nice new sprockets you're buying a decent DiD type chain etc.

It was a typo,...i meant standard length chain,....anyroadup,the OP has had a new chain fitted by the dealer,...did you not read that?

i've got a 44 on ine with standard length chain.

Yeah...me too.
The axle is fairly snug in it's slot, but it IS do-able.
Has the advantage of shortening the wheelbase a bit too, so in theory, it should turn in easier.
But still waiting for V Rossi to confirm this for me though.
Mine used to top out at 164mph....now it's more like 145ish.
It rips through the gears like a scalded cat....and a little less jugga-jugga around town and in slow moving traffic.
No noticeable difference in fuel consumption.
All in all....recommended.

can't guarantee it turns in easier....but I can guarantee it's easier to pull up out of a ditch. :Oo

For the road. 15T with 44T is a hoot. Very quick through the gears. Who cares about top speed?
