Spring Maintainance

Well today I have dropped the yokes through the forks with 3 bars showing, the T does not not like the slow 30mph tight corners which I often ride so hopefully that will spruce up the handling. :thumbup

Still looking for a shock either an ohlins (if i can whack it on plastic at a used price) or an RSVR sachs rear, but after seeing a thread on here for one going for 30 quid I dont wanna pay much more as I might need to get a bigger spring :rolleyes

Also bled the clutch fluid as it was a dit discoloured and bled the rear brake too.

My method of bleeding is by using a big syringe, first attempt still had air in so second I took the brake piston off and put it below the brake so the air would rise up, I also adjusted the push rod so there was less travel.

It now works but yet to take it for a ride, will see if stays good as I miss the rear brake, even more so on track.

So looking for a screen and a shock and thats me sorted apart from nipping down cadwell to get the suspension fiddled with and some metzeler racetecs, mine has pirelli angels with a 180 on the rear, think I will opt for a big fat 190.

I think I got the faster blue and white Tuono too, sorry if you guys have any "lesser powered" ones :yes

**** right off!! Black is faster than blue.:yes

Mine is getting its spring maintainance today at DIT. Being a lazy **** and a bit fick, I let some other buga do the dirty work.
You may notice with the bigger tyre the bike "turns in" a bit slower.

**** OFF! Red is the fastest and you all bloody know it.

I bled the rear brake and still not working, think I will have to get moto forza to do it.

**** OFF!! grey ones are faster
and my back break works

and just ordered a titanium danmoto silencer (although they dont appear to do much silencing)

woohoo, time to piss everybody in my street off!

pit yer cocks awa loons...its a weel known fact that the silver n black yins are the coolest an better fanny magnets :thumbup

There is a whole rake of stuff about bleeding the rear brake on the Apriliaforum. One of the members there, KZMille is an Ape technician and put a detailed "how to" on. They recommend unbolting the rear calliper and hanging it of the exhaust hanger to get the bleed nipple to the top.

The clutch fluid will turn black - quite quickly. it doesn't affect the performance, "they all do that"
If you want to stop it happening you need to strip the slave cylinder and lube everything with silicon grease, it is caused by the DOT 4 fluiod leeching colour out of the seals in the system.

You can use DOT 5 silicon brake fluid in the CLUTCH if you want to, there are tons of urban myth stories about how it turns to gel when mixed with DOT 4 - it doesn't but obviously you need to completely remove one type to replace it. DONT use DOT 5 in the brakes, they will bind because the lubricating properties of DOT 5 are too great for the seals to retract the pistons.

Aprilia/Brembo do list DOT 5 as a possible fluid, but if you do change make damned sure any bike shop that gets near it knows.

Grin factor, I also go to DIT to get my Tuono serviced.
He seems to know his stuff, prices are competative & is surrounded by italian V-twins in various state of repair.
He always seems to be in a bad mood.
Last time I was there, getting a new rear tyre, he was in such a mood I suggested that he could probably take it off the rim with his bare hands.
He just gave me an even stranger look.
I feel sorry for the apprentice, especially as its a lass.

Well took the T out today 15 degrees and sunny, rear brake just wont lock up :banghead

Really dont want to pay for rearsets so it works or spend half my life bleeding it.

Im going to sort this, im sure I will be another of those that have tried and failed :yes

Will take a look at the aprilia forum on some research, has any one tried another master cylinder froma different bike?

There's loads of different theories of why it dosn't work, mainly heat related

Probably the best I heard was from Griff who said it's because Brembo only designed the cylinder to be mounted vertically, and hence why it works when monted to rear sets. I've sometimes thought about making up some brackets to do this.

....but done nowt

Funny how some work and others don't though. Mine works fine at the moment. Rode gilos the other week and would have been better trying to stop the rear wheel with a rich tea biscuit. Absobloodylutely nothing there.
