Hi Guys,

My spag clutch has just gone on my RSV mille 01. I tried to cheap out and took it to a back street garage and the guy doing it has knackered the thread to jack the sprag clutch off. I have taken the bike back now and will do it myself as I have space to do so now. Does anyone have any idea how to get the sprag clutch off with the thread knackered.

Cheers in advance

So are you saying the thread in the end of the flywheel where the bolt goes through to hold it to the crankshaft ?

Redrat there is most likely a thread in the flywheel too which is used as a puller to get it off.
If they have ****** that thread they are ham fisted monkeys.
I would be seriously ****** off at them.
Are there any other holes in the flywheel that could be used to get it off with a puller?
If not a nut welded to the front of the flywheel to wind it off with. the flywheel is no good now anyway and the heat from welding will expand it and free the grip in the taper of the crankshaft.

OEM Aprilia Flywheel Puller For All V990 Aprilias -AP0277730

If it is stuffed could it be worked out with 2 screwdrivers ? if not Get one made by a local engineers, in hardend steel M22 x 1.5, remove (with some heat),

I searched all that and summarised it for ya I actually have no idea :)

Hi guys. cheers for your quick responses.

The guy I took it to basically said it was like that already, but Im not so sure as he managed to get a puller in damaged that apparently. Its happened now so not much I can do.

Basically where the OEM puller goes in the thread is obviously slightly damaged, as I cannot screw the puller in. I borrowed the OEM pulled from a friend who has recently done this and gave it to the guy. He has worn the thread on this too.

Im offshore at the minute, but when I return home im planning to run a 22m 1.5 tap through it and try and tidy the thread up. I have my doubts tho as the actual thread looks worn down, so not sure if the puller will have enough thread to pull on. Welding a nut on may work if there is no other way. Fingers crossed.

Cheers
