Hi fellas

This would be my second thread with this elusive problem on the speedo not working.

Originally thought to be wiring from the dash etc, it all checked ok :thumbup

Now I have read somewhere that the speedo reads off the rear disc bolts, is this true ?????? If so it was around the time when I changed my bolts to some tasty titanium ones, could this be it?????

If this is so, would it be that they are shorter and not picking up on a sensor or something, different material perhaps??

HELP much appreciated.

Cheers Pete

Hi Sabre

Cheers for that, would it be the material or most likely that the head is a little shorter and not being registered on the sensor??

Could I adjust the sensor, or is that not an option.

Cheers for thge help, Pete :thumbup

Not sure. I think its the material. Try adjusting the clearance first . If it still dont work then it must be the material.

Cool Sabre

Will check it out this weekend!!

Thanks for the quick help mate :thumbup

If it still doesnt work , even if you have replaced the original bolts than its your sensor. They do tend to fubar to easily.

Hi Guys

Thanks for that, the wheel is coming off today. I will have to swap over my wave disc as well which is ok as it works worserer than the OEM one :)

Cheers for the help, glad I am heading in the right direction.

Once again thanks fellas.

Cheers Pete

Is that possible:exclamation:eek::dunno

Yeah possible for sure!!

As the pads were still good I did not replace them, I am guessing that they didnt sit well with a new rotor, another story.

Pulled the wheel off tonight and will refit soon enough but I am sure the bolt are it. Hopefully OEM rotor refitted will be ok.

Cheers

if your bolts dont cure it then check the connector on rh side behind small panel under seat i had a bad connection there with mine, just a thought

Hey guys

Finally got around to changing the titanium bolts back to the originals, and HEY PRESTO the speedo is all good and working again.

CHEERS to all that helped, yet another reason this forum is so f&%king GREAT.

hi all.i have a 2000 rsv mille.the speedo is giving me crazy readings like 300 mph in first gear.some times i works and other times not.it even gives readings when the bike is running in neutral on the side stand.has anyone got any ideas

Probably a symptom of water getting into the sensor. It's not unknown. You'll probably have to replace the sensor - quite a simple job. You can often see them advertised on Ebay at quite a saving off new price from Aprilia.
