speedo going mad

hey guys i feel i am experiancing italian electrics with my bike .....

the speedo isnt working and just sits at 0 unless i give it loads of throttle then it goes mad :dunno

any idea loose connection etc ? anyone know were it measures the speed from sensor location etc ???

Speedo sensor is by the rear caliper deano. It may well be that it needs cleaning, or alternatively you need a new one. They do get covered in crap and fail from time to time, as well as getting a break in the wires inside the outer.

I managed to melt one courtesy of a rear brake binding incident :doh

As above, probably the sensor. My speedo started to read erratically, then stopped all together. I did the voltage tests on the connector plug which confirmed the sensor was knackered. New one fixed it. Shop around for best price, new one from Aprilia is 60 odd quid. I got a new one off ebay for £47. Might be worth dropping Griff (Fusebox) a line to see if he can help.

Definately sounds like speedo sensor..Usually plenty on ebay for around £30..Mine went last year, got one for £16 s/h and another as a spare for £24 new, or there abouts..
