Had the bike out today. After about a hours the speedo went a bit mad... one minute i was doing 0 miles an hour, next i was doing 200 ... I was really doing about seventy.

How can i get this sorted :dunno

Or is just italian electrics :angry

Last time this happened to me I noticed the speedo cable (near/on the rear brake caliper where the speed sensor is) had come out of it's little protective fairing where it is routed with the rear brake hose and had burned/melted on the exhaust creating a little short circuit.

I rerouted the cable back into the fairing and all seems well.

Dakar, this is a real common problem with the sensor, Its located on thr brake carrier so gets a lot of action, I replaced mine just before selling it. What your seeing are the typical symptoms

It will go completely soon so keep a look out on Gaybay for one.

Take a deep breath cos there pricey mind :D

Mine was telling me I was doing 73mph up on the paddock stsnds in my garage:eek:
Phoned the Griff and he said to take the sensor off clean it and refit, did this and touchwood I'm all good:thumbup

PS...When you get one, slap a bit of silicone around the rubber boot where the wires enter as in Aprilias wisdom that's not moulded hence letting water in..Had no trouble since doing that with mine 2 years ago..
