Can anyone tell me if DCPR9E are ok for 2005 factory.
The reason I'm asking is that I can get these for approx £2.50 each.
However if I type in a search for ngk r DCPR9E they cost approx £9 each.
I assume they can't be the same part can they?
Thanks in advance

NGK IRIMAC9 Iridium DCPR-E DCPR9E

" While my bike was running today after changing to iridium plugs (eg mods in progress) I noticed a huge difference at idle. I compared before and after AFR readings on each cylinder. With standard plugs NGKR DCPR9E every 10-15seconds at idle the bike zipped to lean for half a second than came back ( would stall 1 in 10 of these lean eposodes). This was on both cylinders. Iridium plugs installed and the hole shabang went rich. Amazing! Besides having to push it 2 miles today I think I am on the road to riches!

CorsaRSVR .... " I can say that I was extremely happy with Denso iridiium plugs on the RSV-R. It seemed to improve throttle response as well as fuel consumption. "

I had to shop around before I got a set at a decent price as everyone thought they saw me coming and the ' R ' takes 4 of them.

The DCPR9E are the right plug for gen 2 bikes.

Are you sure the more expensive one is not the DCPR9EVX (platinum) model? They are about £8 each.

Rob :)

I read a bit of an in depth article about the difference between iridium and platinum plugs and the outcome was that theres negligible difference to the point where it's matter less which you use?

I just use the regular 'vanilla' type. As you say the benefits of the exotic (expensive) ones is very small or non-existent.

Yeh Rob I've heard that the standard plugs suit the rotax engine better but I got sucked in my the fancy packaging and pictures of blue electrical trickery and bought the platinum.
Im a sucker for sparkly things

Yep. All that sparkly packaging and fancy techno speak and what's a poor boy to do?

I bought some fancy plugs once in the days when that marketing stuff still worked on me.

Now I'm older and wiser (lol) I never fall for that stuff ;). lol

I can believe that difference between iridium / platinum is small, BUT the difference between iridium and ' Vanilla ' is significant. When most of the guys talk about ' difference ' they refer to performance only. Seldom the effort of replacing plugs or labor cost for replacing the plugs 3 times more often is factored in. Just finding the correct plug spanner is a *****.

At constant high rpm / high engine temps for track day the overall gain is also justifiable.

My personal experience was with DENSO iridium which is also a premium make. I paid about 2.3 times the price as per ' vanilla ' and was skeptical before the purchase.
Engine Temp settled 1 deg lower on a normal cruise. In sweltering hot Johannesburg it is a welcome bonus. Fuel consumption was notably better, throttle response was notably better. I sold the bike before I got the ' service interval ' benefit. I hate spending extra money on ' over advertised ' items, but I can honestly say it was worth the money.

My conclusion is that if you plan to do more than 20 000 km's on your bike and you can get iridium's at better than ' vanilla ' x 3 pricing then just the financial benefit is justifiable.

Author's Note * If you need to buy plugs and beer for the weekend......that might be a tough choice....... *
