spanners make me miserable!!

P

pieman

It's a confidence issue. So far I haven't done any damage to a bike, just had to readjust/ reposition things on the odd occasion.

I changed my oil today as well as cleaning out my air box, putting a fenda extenda on (I know, but it's not for looks, it's for winter), a new reg plate (the old one had dealer writing in the middle and bottom, was bigger then legal so I changed to a simpler legal one with a gb bit on just to tidy it up, and a new tax disc holder to keep my new tax disc nice and dry over the winter!!

I always get so worried that I've done something up too loose, or worse, too tight!! I never got encouraged to tinker when I was younger so only started doing bits on my bikes recently, then only taking them into the garage once a year for a major service.

I suppose I just have to try and convince myself that if I do mess up I've got breakdown cover and Griff's only a phone call away!!! Any other suggestions to help with my pain gratefully received!!

fenda extenda looks like this in case you were curious

pieman why don't you buy yourself a torque wrench then you won't over/under torque anythink again and you find out what components are prone to coming loose when you torque up each time. The service manual on the file vault has all the torque settings in. Tighening aluminuim up needs to be done carefully as its easy to crack.

Hi,

winter'ising mine too..... wher do you get th efender extender from?

ta TT

Pieman, I'm only up the road a ways and Alan AMB67 is just around the corner........................if he can fix my fook ups he can sure help you out :thumbup, if needed that is :dunno(this time of year he goes a bit hedgehog and starts hibernating :devious

i have 2 torque wrenches but neither of them has an adapter for allen key sockets. The oil filter and upper plug are both allen key! And also people seem to suggest the torque settings may be a bit too much?
Fenda extender was from m and p busters do them too. You do need to drill pilot holes for the self tappers. Don't be tempted to just stick it on as i know people who have had them fly off!

i know. But i haven't got them. I'll put them on the christmas list. Not come across them much on previous bikes. They normally have sockets on all the key areas!
