just got back from taking the new Yammie R1 out for a test ride, dont worry im not converting back to a four just yet but blimey, wot a bike! goin to try and get a test ride booked on an RSV4 some time soon aswell, if its anything like the r1 it will be phenominal! if you do get the chance or someone offers u a go on the new R1, DO IT! but make sure its in "mode A"....:thumbup:bigok managed to get a couple of pics of it up next to my rsv...

lol yeh if it was mine! seriously if you can get a test ride on 1 tho i would strongly recommend you do! this 1 was the bike shop owners own bike he uses as a demo, hed fitted the Akra slip ons..... £1050!!!! and yes, just slip ons! sounded really nice tho
 
I looked at the R1 at the local stealership..................dissapointed to be honest , the plastics were like paper and the finishing of the frame was WAAAAAYYYYYY behind my 2000 RSV !!!

Good engine but the rest........forget it.

The rsv4 is the daddy imho
 
I've been trying to get a test ride can't get one for love or money my local dealer said if i bought one he would let me ride it when it was ready for collection but no test ride.............
 
Nice one Regis but what did you reckon to the tyres? I thought they were crap.

I rode my mate's theough Turin last week (with carbon Akro's) and it was awesome. much lighter than my mille. he was on my mille and we were doing 3rd gear roll on theought the tunnels in italy and switzerland. Together or seperate our bike's sounded awesome with 4 stocking akro's thundering through them.

IMHO i don;t know which I'd have. but if i had both the Ape would be the one in my Front room

Nice Ape by the way mate. Looks stunning. the Ape certainly looks the best out of the two even if it is diffy 50Bhp.
 
cheers m8! i didnt really get that much of a chance to check out the handling nd tyres as the weather turnd bit windy nd started spittin wid rain (£1500 exces so didnt wana bin it!) however i asked if i could pop bak on a sunny hot day and go for a proper blast and he said no probs! the motor is stonkin! felt soooo quick and throttle response in mode A was crazeeeee! got to agree tho if i had the 2 the Ape wud b in the front room! it wud b at the mo but the missus wont allow it! Sharky get yourself down here nd go get a test ride at my local dealers! it wud b worth it, trust me!

may well do that your only an hour away can't do it in the next few weeks but will PM you to let you know when i can make it .cheers for that
 
It looks a lot nicer without the oem cans on it for sure.

It's a bit like the V4 for me in that i don't dislike the look but it doesn't make me want to get one either.

There is one local to me in Silver and i must admit it sounds sweet whenever i hear it go by. Lovely exhaust note to it.
 
yeh definately m8, the akras sounded sweet n wud pop every nw and agen. i no wot u mean about the looks but once you get on one and ride it, its something else! in my opinion neway lol yeh sharky and dangleeballs its powerbiking in high wycombe, myt b worth just ringing them b4 u cum down coz its the store owners bike and hes not always there, myt b worth just makin it sound lyk yur quite interested in 1 to, wont hurt! lol number is 01494512070
 
its ugly and boz eyed from the front,your prilla is much better looking mate,and the red swing arm on the white one is hideous,makes all them gross aftermarket bar ends and screen bolts look tastefull lol.
my bro was gunna trade his 04 r1 in for it,but he didnt bother,prefered his 05 for value for money ect,although his 05 is up for sale now.

have to say i agree with big un looked at the new r1(before i plunged for the ktm) and we see a matt black one where we ride looks like any other :dunnobut have to agree with the sound it is awsome in that respect not my bag but have to say if i was going jap it would have to be that! but as i aint desperate for a jap no ta:lol
 
I would also have to agree on the sound of the new R1 and the HP on paper is nice, but still the jap bikes lack one important factore.... Character
 
The best sound I've ever heard that didn't come from a V-twin or a scooby though.

Or maybe a ferrari, or SLR erm or...... Well it's quite nice sounding anyway.
