Soon to be Falco owner

Hi all,

I've been lurking here (and the old forum) for a while, but this is my first time posting.

I'm buying a Falco this Saturday, which is going to involve a pretty epic journey up from London to Leeds on the train, then back down to Ipswich that afternoon and over to London again the next day.

As I've never ridden a big twin before or owned an Aprilia, I guess it'll give me a chance to get used to the bike!

The current owner has told me the speedo isn't working, so I have a couple of questions:

To try and avoid a ticket, can someone tell me what the engine speed is at 70mph?

If it's the speedo sensor, what it the quickest and cheapest way to get hold of one?

Thanks!
David

PS I posted in here as it seemed the most relevant section :thumbup

ring Griff/Sharon at aprilia performance if he has one he'll post it next day delivery

I'll call once I've got the bike, and know it's definitely the sensor at fault.

Buy a GPS

I've got one, but it goes in the see-through top pouch on my magnetic tank bar which won't stick to the plastic tank!

count it here http://www.oocities.com/sl_mille/df.html
looks like 4th gear on 5000rpm should be ok

Thanks for the link, just over 4k in top should do it :)

You could always take some straps or bungee cords and tie the front of the tank bag to the yoke/headstock and the back to something like lower crash bungs or wedge them under the seat.

I've downloaded a speedometer ap for my phone which I'll tape to the tank, so that's the speedo sorted for the way home.

I'll also need to get to the battery to fit the lead for my heated gloves, is it easy to find? Or buried deep?

I'm picking the bike up tomorrow, I can't wait!!

The battery is directly under the seat. You pull the back two corners of the riders seat back to expose the bolts that hold it down at each corner (I've had Mille's where it's been either a 5mm allen bolt or around 8-10mm hex bolt)

Edit: Actually, that's for the Mille, I forgot you were buying a Falco. I've never had a Falco but more than likely still under the seat somewhere.

Get to Af1 mate, a lot of Falco stuff on there or Ridersite or Aprilia Performance. Tell em Nob sent yer ;-)
