who cares ... oh. ok ... the midlands. Shropshire
The face of mt Gen2 clocks is cracked

Apparently you cannot buy the glass on it's own.

On here somewhere there's an excellent post about taking them to bits and sealing ... but somebody needs to work out how to make the things fog proof and set up a repair service including sealing / venting, double glazed glass or perspex treated with anti-mist.

If I try to open mine I just know for sure I will make a total fuds breakfast of it and end up with more than just a bit of a crack.

I have noticed that the clocks only fog up when the sun shines on them .

I reckon a black (stationary) or tinted (riding) cover to clip over them may help ???

i took mine apart and put some hole's (vents) in the back, be careful they are very brittle ,they still fog in the sunlight.
Welly if i were you id buy a cheap 125 clock and swap the clear plastic save having to redo the code & keys plus milage would be correct

I used a 1.5mm drill bit and drilled a hole through the left and right bottom corners just behind the `glass`and not had any fogging since :thumbup.I also got caught in a realy heavy downpour a couple of days after doing the holes and had no water ingress through the holes.I dont think it was an ideal fix but will tide me over untill a better one is found

I'd read that somewhere, may give it a go. Did you manage to drill it while still on the bike?

Read the threads I've posted above.
You need to be really careful drilling holes in the clock casing.
You can easily drill too far & damage the pcb or lcd ribbon.
The case plastic is a brittle as fook..and has a habit of cracking.
The drill swarf may end up in your display.

IF you wan't to vent it with holes, use a soldering iron and burn them through. For details of WHERE to actually make the holes...have a look at the pics in the thread.

Finally.....give some thought once you've got your holes (fnarrrrr fnarrr) how you are going to keep the dust, creepie crawlies and water out....have a look at the pics in the thread.

grin factor,Yes mate clocks still on bike ,just put on full opposite lock to side you are drilling and used a battery screw driver with a right angle chuck. Was out all day today in bright sun to the other extreme of a couple of heavy downpours and zero fogging and still no water ingress :biggrin

I think Tifa`s way is best, but I was not confident enough to pull the clocks apart, and the vacume cleaner (thin slit nozzle, gaffer taped half way acrooss the slit sucked all the drilling swarf out.

It's a 5 min job to take the clocks off.

Disconnect battery (not absoloutely essential...it's just good practice to do this )

Un-clip headights, and indicators.
Un-do the 6 small allen screws at the back of the screen (three each side)

The whole front nosecone will now come away.

Release wiring harness from back of clocks, using the release lever.

Un-do the 4 retaining screws holding the clocks, and out she comes...

Tifa has anyone managed to source the gortex pads to do your fix on the clocks ?.I have trawled the net and been unsuccessful in finding any

It's not available in the Uk unless you are prepared to pay gazillions for a huge order.
istr there is a guy in the states selling them for a reasonable price...I think he's in one of the AF1 clock fix threads.

Best (and cheapest) bet is to use some old goretex from some old gloves/jacket whatever....then glue it in carefully around the edge over your hole...
