Some Mille questions

Hi All

Wondering if you can help me again:stupid

After a long ride, when the oil is warm I slightly loose engine performance and engine breaking. Would this be the oil not retaining viscosity at high temps and getting a wee bit thin and maybe loosing a bit of compression (hence slightly less engine breaking)

Or is this normal? Im being super fussy here but would like to know if this is the norm, or would it be better to upgrade the oil.

What oil do you guys use as well? (02 mille)

Thanks in advance!

15w50 semi synthetic oil is recommended for use in the rotax engine by Aprilia

As for your engine losing performance after a long ride then it will not be your engine oil losing viscosity that's causing a drop off in performance unless your bike is very very low on oil.

It could be one of many things but some things to check are the state of the air filter, do the plugs need changing, it may be the throttle bodies need adjusting and balancing, there could be a small leak in a vacuum hose. Also check the fuel over flow pipes aren't blocked ( at the back of the tank ), they could cause fuel starvation by causing a vacuum in the fuel tank

thanks for that, I think im just being very paranoid. Its so marginal, but id thought id see if anyone else has had same probs

hello mate if you do top it up with oil you really need to know whats in there I've been told that if it's 10/40 then you can't put 15/50 in as it wont mix or it could be that semi synthetic wont mix with fully synthetic but i'm sure someone one will shed some more light on this...

Not had to top it up once, but its getting a full service soon.

Whats the best oil that you can get?

silkolene comp4 seems to be a very popular choivce with milles, at garages and with individuals,i've used it with my tuned mille over 46k total miles no probs
