Hi guys,

I'm looking to give my calipers a real good cleaning and was pointed in the direction of this stuff........

http://www.eagleone.com/pages/products/product.asp?itemid=1001&cat=5006

Problem is i can't find a UK supplier and the Eagle 1 website only shows delivery to USA, so was wondering if anyone can recommend an Acid based cleaner that would be similar and where to buy some? Most of the Alloy wheel cleaners i've found seem to be Acid free!! and apparently it's the acid in it that works the magic!!

Thanks guys..................:thumbup

Hi Andy, on a CB500 that i restored a couple of years agowith Brembo calipers, I simply soaked them in muc-off bike cleaner and cleaned them by scrubbing with a toothbrush. Came up like new after a few goes with this.

If you want to stick to an alloy wheel cleaner, just try something like 'Wonder Wheels' or Autoglym 'Clean Wheels' they would probably do the trick.

Thanks bud........could you tell me, can they be submerged with the pistons in place? (ie just remove from the bike, and stuck in the cleaner?)

Cheers.

I took the pistons out to make sure it all had a good clean and made sure the calipers were thoroughly dry before regreasing and assembling. You probably could submegre them with the pistons in, just make sure that all of the cleaners is removed from inside the caliper.

Tim....Pat.....thanks very much....i'll give that a go!!

What do you guys reckon to submerging with the pistons in place??

I would be tempted to just get the old toothbrush out as too much might **** the piston seals, then wash it over with soapy water.
